I have trouble with the idea the response, when I've seen people criticize things like superdelegates, primaries are run by private parties, so they can be as anti-democratic as they want to be. By that logic, there's nothing stopping the Republican Party and Democratic Party from just agreeing to not hold primaries and just nominating the same candidate... is there?

Just the risk of losing party membership.

I think a big appeal, at least in some circles (i.e. RWM, especially), of hypocrisy on the right is that they know it drives the left absolutely nuts. Sean Hannity seems to be the king of this. The dude went from calling for Assange's execution to praising his name without skipping a beat - I don't see that as stupidity but as a display of power.

Even the stuff he's talking about being a solution is just band-aids to the problem anyway, and eventually that gets untenable. Education and social safety nets are fine, but we're already past the point where all the education in the world isn't going to get everyone a job (this should be obvious on the face of it, alas) and social safety nets are a kludge by design. If half your population is dependent on them then you're doing something very wrong.

He probably knows this but what could he do? No way he could have drastically reworked the social contract during his Presidency, not with My Ultimate Ayn Rand Porn in Congress.

Honestly, it is probably the former in this case. The guy would almost certainly have reacted the same way to a white cast doing this. It betrays a need to view art as simple entertainment, to never be challenged or made uncomfortable by it. Hell, Hamilton would be a better show if they made everyone as uncomfortable as Pence about their role as stewards of American ideals and sins.

If you remember back to when they offered Kasich the position and told him as VP he would carry out the duties of the president and apply that to Pence suddenly all these appointments make perfect sense. I don't think Trump gives a gently caress about Jeff Sessions or anything like that. It's probably Pence and Bannon feeding him a list and Trump signing off on whatever.

His son in law Jared "KUSHMASTERJK" Kushner purged everyone even remotely connected to Christie and presumably that was the only competent faction on the whole boat. That assertion of power would be fine if KUSHMASTERJK was able to actually capitalize on the purge but anti-nepotism laws are A Thing. Trump might try to keep him close by but he won't ever be allowed in the cabinet and that lack of legitimacy is going to chafe on the actual cabinet because they're a pack of pickled peckerwoods who will just tell Kush to gently caress the hell off because he's not a real cabinet member. Since Trump actually trusts Kushner for some reason, Kushner is going to end up having Trump stage regular purges of anyone who tries talking down to him due to his lack of office. The cabinet will devolve into everyone playing each other against Trump or Kushner or both.
