it really is a bit surprising that apple didn't make a beautiful ridiculously expensive machined aluminium dock with a bunch of standard ports as part of this whole push easy money, and hard to argue with it actually being a nice thing for the customers as well in this instance

my last two jobs have both still required ethernet connections to actually access internal services. at conferences the wifi is often entirely unworkable. also, it is not a huge deal, but i would really rather be wasting time relying on wifi over gigabit ethernet for some tasks, and this certainly would hold double for anyone in a more media-intensive job i also personally rather enjoy some latency-sensitive games now and then and prefer to not lose to the neighbour starting the microwave
