Russian gunboat Kraznoye Znamya, torpedoed in the Gulf of Finland by a Finnish MTB.

Kraznoye Znamya was (even by this time) a loving ancient MTB, having been built in 1895. She was sunk in the harbor by a ballsy Finnish MTB, but sank in very shallow water. She would be back in action 7 months after getting torpedo'd.

The Soviet Navy made it a habit of keeping Tsarist vessels in service well-past their 'this should be replaced, holy gently caress' date. This particular MTB wouldn't be decommissioned until 1960.

Clunk! Phew!

Awww.

Well, these are not the carriers, but I'll take the hits anyway.

Nope, still not a carrier.

We will take the kills though.

This will cause them some problems in the short term at least with shipping.

I've ordered a number of attacks in China.

This of course includes another round of mass death.

I do make sure to include a slaughter of our own.

Nanning will be ours – it's just a matter of time!

Oh where oh where have my carriers gone? I want to sink them all!

We claimed six ships, but no pretty flat tops.

~40kt of shipping isn't a bad haul. Even if they were unescorted and apparently empty.

Grey, i'm not sure if you're aware, but you can move these guys into the hex to participate in combat and you
will still control the hex side and deny supplies to the enemy. The last unit to enter a hex from a given side
controls that side.

You could move the other guys too of course, but that would require them to shock attack across the river as
they enter.

We get a good old fashioned naval battle. We sink the Mississippi and a destroyer, and cripple several other ships.

We give chase south, and after quickly finishing off the New Orleans, we focus fire on the Idaho.

The Banshee's get a bomb hit on our battleships.

While our Bettys are more efficient.

Note to self, order more torpedoes.

Oh hey, these guys do something!

We continue his offensive here.

A good day!

We claim two battleships and several other ships.

Although it's kinda funny how your BBs blasted BB Idaho 60 times and it still took the Betty's torpedoes to tap it out.

Weren't there a fair number of US BBs that got used for target practice after the war and still required an air-dropped torpedo to coup de grace them?

Wow Dayumn. Two American Carriers, two American BB's. Not a bad haul all things considered. there any signs of the American CV's still being in the theatre or they making a run for Pearl?

So, all things considered, what are the total casualties for each side (generally) in planes and ships the last few days and estimated repair times assuming there's not more back and forth raiding going on?

Most likely most of those hits were smaller calibre shots from the cruisers and destroyers. I don't think the game AI is smart enough to have smaller ships not bother to shoot small caliber stuff at ships they can't possibly damage, although I'm not really sure.

Also that's the in-battle report, so a lot of those "hits" were... not, actually.

Can we got a shot on the damage reports for our BB's after that epic Battle of Milne Bay? Looks like they got pretty well dinged, though not nearly as bad as the Idaho and the Mississippi.

Well, if I really HAVE to shoot you in the bollocks to shut you up, then I guess I'll need to, post-haste, for everyone else's sake.
...huh. I was honestly expecting that to go far worse for us than it did. I would imagine a single 250kg to the decks of each of our BB's wouldn't do much lethal short of a nasty critical hit?

Now keep chasing down what's left, Grey! Banzai and all that!

As I recall, Banshees carry 1000 kgs...

Also, given the trouble Taffy-3 gave the IJN, I figure they left smaller calibre guns hitting giant battleships in for reasons.

Considering Grey probably didn't sink anything of any real importance at Pearl Harbor, the loss of the Oklahoma and the Mississippi brings Japan and the US to rough battleship parity. Let's have this true decisive battle already :yarr:

I am kind of wondering what Katori is doing in an actual battlefleet though. I mean, we're talking about a cruiser that was explicitly designed and built to be used for training purposes, not combat, and among other issues Katori is the slowest ship in the fleet by a huge margin at only 18 kts; 7 kts slower than the next slowest ships, the two Ise-class battleships.

Great haul though.

It definitely adds up, 5" and 8" shells can do a number on a battleship's superstructure and ability to function, and can start large fires that can threaten the whole ship. Range is also quite important. The Hiei was crippled by cruiser and destroyer guns at the 1st Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, where the engagement range was around 3000 yards. Again, it took a follow-up air attack to actually sink it the next day while it was crippled, but the smaller calibers do matter.
