You know what really, really pisses me off? People who decide to apex corners. This is from a couple years ago, but someone did it and smashed into me:  And the car ended up getting totaled, because the axle, suspension, and frame were all trashed.

I was part of a funeral procession making a right turn into the right most lane. FIVE cars in a row got impatient, drove around the procession, and made a right turn from the straight ahead lane into the left most lane to speed past.

It must be national "holy poo poo it's windy so drive super slow and maybe you won't flip the car" day. Had the lead car doing about 17 in a 45, which prompted me to take a small maze of roads with a couple stop signs, rather than driving direct- so I could get around them. Earlier today I was following an incredibly slooooow Highlander. I saw the paw print, and a cute dog sticker- then BAM "Furry" sticker dead center of the rear window. I think this is my first "furry car" sighting since I moved out of the SFBA area.

Also remembered, the funeral director went to stop traffic to let the hearse out. The first car barely stopped in time, looked the director in the face, and then nearly clipped him when he gunned it to go around. To be fair, the funeral director probably shouldn't just walk in the middle of the road holding his hand up and waving around orange "funeral" window stickers. Get some red/orange wands or a stop sign or something!

Maybe its just because I come from a family that doesn't do big funerals, but I don't get the point of the huge funeral procession. We're sad, so we all have to drive together and gently caress up traffic for everyone else? I'm not going to do something dickish around one, but I really don't get it.

Yeah. I mean, the people who are mourning have my sympathy for their loss, but you can't go loving up traffic because of that. There was a good hand-wringing article about (potential Grand Tour spoiler, so hidden) Jeremy Clarkson blowing up his house while a funeral was taking place in the area, so they could hear it - Frankly, I want my funeral to be the other way round. I'm sure there's a hearse driver somewhere who's willing to get an S59 for doing a monster burnout. Anyway, content for the thread: Got cut up by some middle-aged woman in a Discovery 4 earlier today on a roundabout, thanks to her assuming a line choice which, while perfectly viable on that section if it's empty, is not the correct one per the road markings:   Of course, she seemed totally nonplussed as to why I'd have an issue with her driving.

I don't have any problem with it when the church/funeral home is down the street from the cemetery. That makes sense and simplifies things for everyone. Nice quick move of the crowd between the locations. When they decide to go to a completely different suburb via highway it's a different matter. I see huge processions on 71 all the time that definitely cause traffic issues for the exits they pass. Usually heading south, usually the same two or three cars leading, but I'm usually heading north when I see them so I've never been able to figure out where they're coming from or heading to.

I almost cut off a funeral procession with a tour bus one morning after driving all night Charlotte to Cleveland, surely would have ended in a t-bone or two if I was a little less alert. Their path in red, mine in green.  Honestly I had no idea it was a funeral procession, just came up to a red light with a string of cars passing left to right doing 45mph with 10-15 car lengths in between. The light turned green, I took my foot off the brake and moved it over the gas, but jammed back on the brake when I saw a car on the left make no attempt to stop for his red light. And then second guy didn't stop, and the third. What the hell? No police protection, no flags on the cars, saw no hearse when I pulled up to the light. (intersection being the end of a highway offramp) Really curious what the outcome would have been, for all the world it looked to me like normal traffic until it didn't. I usually try to empathize with truckers - whenever I can I'm conscious of those around me, try to leave them room to move, avoid having to make them give up precious momentum, I gladly let them in front of me if they want into my lane. Everybody's human though, and some of them are dicks. Yesterday I was in a line of cars at a left turn waiting to make a U-turn. Cross light (last light before our left turn green) turns green.......yellow.....and gently caress. Two semis with loooong boxes are having a drag race through the light. The rear truck literally spent our whole green turn in the intersection clearing it. Our light was red by the time he cleared. FFS.

I was on my way to go camping in North Carolina when a funeral procession was going the opposite direction down a 4-lane road with a middle turn lane. People going the same direction as me came to a complete stop for it. I have no loving clue, either. I drove around them and continued about my day.

Tradition aside can you give one legitimate reason why a funeral procession should be able to effectively shut down large portions of limited access highways? In the case I was speaking of the procession was traveling through a busy downtown area with 5 exits in the half mile they were occupying - including a major interchange where two interstate highways intersect. Is the corpse going to get deader if the entire procession isn't able to travel as one group without stopping?

Had an encounter with one of the most oblivious drivers I've ever seen. I'm blue, she's red. The black box is approximately the position of her car when she stopped.  She was making a left, and decided that since it wasn't clear in the direction she wanted to go, she'd sit in the middle of the street. I was probably at the tip of the blue arrow when she decided to do this. I did not let of my horn until she moved her stupid rear end out of my driving lane. Oh, and I should mention that she never once looked in my direction. Not before the turn, not even after having a car honk next to you for a good 15 seconds. Totally oblivious.

They had a procession from the funeral to the grave site which included all kinds of heavy trucks because my dad worked for the water department. After taking the body to the grave site (and shutting down traffic through town) for more repetition of prayers, they then waited for traffic to clear out and then took the body back to the funeral home to be cremated. We returned to the grave site again the next day to bury the remains. You read that right, we did a fake burial procession because my brother thought it's what my dad deserved. My dad hated inconveniencing people, he would have been very annoyed at the whole thing.

Someone in a work truck did a solid last night, pulls up behind me at a stoplight at their headlights were perfectly positioned to hit all three of my mirrors and pretty much blinded me. Soon as the truck came to a stop though the driver flipped to parking lights and saved my retinas.. didn't turn them back on until there was a few car lengths of gap between us. I don't know who you are person but I appreciate the self-awareness.

A friend of mine had his bike stolen, then found a few days later sans ignition. Apparently the other drive was found at fault and his insurance is taking care of it though, so  And yes, I specifically asked and he said it was ok to post here. Today I was making a left to get on the highway behind a loaded semi. He took his turn wide and went into the right lane (which is normal. Right lane goes heads to the other direction on the highway). But as soon as he got into the right lane, he threw his left turn signal on and slowed. I guess he was trying to let me pass, but there was no way I was gonna drive up the side of a truck like that without some sort of signal that it was safe.
