Amazingly mine are all tanks. Google thinks I'm a nerd  The "can't be knocked out from the front" thing is to make it the ultimate weapon of war, because the myth of german invincibility, when challenged by the reality they lost, tends to be that their strategic decisions were awful but on a tactical level they were perfect. They won all the battles but lost the war, kind of thing. The idea that the KT can't be destroyed in a standup fight, but can destroy anything else in turn, and is vulnerable only to their lack of fuel or allied air power, fits perfectly with that idea.

Back in the day when two armies met at an open pasture and then the stronger side beat the gonads out of the other one, how did they cope with all the cow poo poo piles? I would imagine they probably wouldn't fight in a cow field, because cows are quite resource intensive and like land that would probably be suitable for arable crops. Generally if you're farming for efficiency you'd either grow arable crops or keep sheep or goats or something else that likes rough terrain. Also for a lot of human history there wouldn't have been large open fields of anything because that's a modern invention as a result of consolidating many small farms into one big one owned by some rich twat. Or at least the open fields would be this weird patchwork of stuff being grown by hundreds of people, sort of like an allotment, rather than single wide open fields with everything growing or fallow at the same time.
