If we don't see any elcor, volus, hanar, or batarians and vorcha (I'm sure the Andromeda galaxy will have its own version of space orc and space goblins) it'll be no big loss. Would be a little tragic if the next game has no krogans, though.

Volus were woefully underused in the initial trilogy. It really disappoints me that they probably won't appear in this one at all.

Krogans were already mentioned as being in the game. Some of the first leaked stuff showed a Krogan squadmate.

Hopefully at the least Volus pinball is an option in MP.

I'm thinking vanguard male Ryder.

I generally play as a female in these types of games when I can, mostly because lesbian alien sex is just that much more interesting I like to see how the writing has accommodated it and for some reason the voice actor seems to be allowed to use a little more range in their speech.

I don't actually know why. but Femshep 4 Lyfe.
I usually do Adept, but I may try Vanguard as well.

Mark Meer was just completely wooden compared to Jennifer Hale. I did him as a renegade and her as paragon but apparently i did it the wrong way around and it's one of my deepest regrets to this very day.

I like to play as a female in these games because you spend 90% of the game staring at an rear end and it should be a female rear end because I'm not gay

Meer grows into the character but Hale is a pro from the beginning which is expected because she does like 10 million things. Her best performance in a Bioware game though is as Krem from Inquisition.

Meer was bad in 1, but good in 2/3. I prefered him in 2 and 3 over femshep and his default character model looks better than the super generic femshep

It's still hilarious to me how much Bioware was betting on you sexing the blue alien spacebabe in Mass Effect 1. Nothing about Liara's character makes sense in ME2 otherwise. "Yes Commander Shepard, I gave your body to Cerberus. Because I was obsessed with some dude who almost left me to die on Therum, killed my mom under dubious pretenses, and solved all the secrets to the Protheans before you even found me."

When you put it like that it makes more sense actually. "Yeah, sure, take it and do... whatever, I don't even care. The space drugs are starting to wear off."

Yeah, but it's really hard to to keep a video game with romance features from turning into a social dysfunction training device.

Here's what (most) videogames teach us about relationships:

You talk to all the attractive people you know until they start repeating themselves or tell you they are busy right now. Then you have to do something interesting or accomplish a difficult task to get them to pay attention to you again for awhile. Repeat this cycle a few times, then you pick the one you are most interested in and perform some grand feat for her/him. After this they are obligated to become your lover, though they might politely decline your romantic invitations for now because their life is really complicated right at the moment. Don't worry, they come around eventually. Also, this locks you out of all other possible romantic relationships in perpetuity, don't bother talking to the other attractive people anymore because they'll just act uncomfortably shy around you (since you didn't choose them). Most importantly: never respond positively to romantic overtones from someone who isn't already your friend. It is always a trap and doesn't lead to anything good.

Mass Effect 2 taught a much more pragmatic lesson, which was "ignore the tons of broken people in your life and just bang the carefree intern".

Think about it. She’s out in the middle of nowhere with some dude she barely knows. She looks around her, what does she see? Nothing but space, and stars lightyears away. “Oh, there’s nowhere for me to run, what am I gonna do, say no?”

It's the implication.
