Percussionists are typically proficient and many different instruments, some easier than others (snare drum, tympani, triangle, cymbals, bass drum, gong, triangle, marimba, wood block, shakers, etc.) I had a percussion teacher in high school who had very strong opinions and detailed instructions on how things like the bass drum and triangle should be played for maximum effect.
