Purdue isn't a downgrade from WMU, but it will be hard to make the next step from there. At least they are in the Big Ten West, but there are better recruiting grounds he probably could have gone to instead of fighting with IU for the Indiana recruits that OSU and ND didn't want.

Not an entirely dumb move by LSU. If they open their wallets for a high-dollar offensive coordinator, it might just work out. It really was not a great year for coaching talent. If this does not work out, in a couple of seasons there may be a hot coach they could hire. It's not actually all that butt hurt. I've had pretty inside access to the organization for a while since my family has been boosters and working in the athletics department. Herman's public persona is all about love and relationships but in reality he's very shady and has straight up lied to my face about things that didn't need to be lied about. No one in the organization is really all that sorry to see him go. He brought us some wins and a little national relevance but we'd rather have an actual good character guy like Strong.
