I specifically play all games as a naive earnest poo poo because I'm 100% positive that there's no way the devs actually considered the 'play along so as to get as close as possible to the bad guy and then loving take him down' path.

You can do it, play the game now and string the bad guy along, it is literally the best "gently caress you" moment in all of gaming history.

Sorry I should really add content, here, Sleeping dogs is really not as good as I remembered, the combat's bland and repetitive, the shooting is heavy but not fun,and the story's fyucking terrible by the halfway point and falls apart completely by the end.

Wei shen's a whiny idiot and gets everyone around him killed, Winston's ok but gets wasted literally halfway through the game and there's no buildup it happens too fast to even affect the player, Jackie's a moron and everyone else is a cliché,big smile lee literally turns up towards the end of the game, says about three lines and suddenly he's the bad guy you have to kill.

The driving's terrible and the city itself is empty and soulless, I know the game was canned and then brought back by squeenix right? Well it feels like they just left poo poo in the game without actually wondering whether it needed to be there.

I just picked up The Division. This game is really loving racist and lays the class warfare on pretty thick. Am I crazy for seeing this? It just seems so obviously a dogwhistle for all those thug hating, poor hating survivalists, it makes me really uncomfortable to play at all. gently caress.

Edit: what are the chances I can get a refund from Sony for this poo poo?

No, the Looter enemies being a bunch of dark-skinned people in urban clothes who brag about killing cops has been A Thing since the game came out

"B b b but they are obviously white voice actors!"

"They are wearing dark masks under their color coded hoodies and flat brimmed caps, how can you tell their skin color?"

"But they're Rioters, of course they're bad! Its okay that you can loot and pillage and kill (with "government sanction") though."

Ugh, I've been reading reactions to this game after buying and not before. I regret this purchase.

Sproggiwood is a great little turn-based roguelike but the interface being designed for phones and tablets is a pain because even if you can mostly play using keyboard shortcuts there are still a bunch of design decisions based around working on a tiny screen that are inconvenient, like not being able to see weapon and item stats without clicking on the them.

Also it does that thing that seems to be endemic to multiplatform games where the PC version is more expensive than the mobile version despite being the exact same program; it launched at $14.99 on Steam but was only $9.99 when it launched on Google Play and the iOS App Store, and right now it's on sale for $4.49 on Steam but only $1.99 on mobile. I kind of regret buying it just because I basically paid more for an inferior version of the game.

The looter group uses a caucasian model with white, hispanic and black voice actors - the same with all four enemy factions. Of the three factions lead by white men two of them are villainous because of privilige and wealth the game explicitly talks about.

There are problems with the Division 's government blowjobs, but the enemies are about as diverse as you can get. It only comes down to Hunting Blacks when you ignore the game, read Polygon and project your weird poo poo.

I just bought The Division too, and your handler? superior officer? Faye Lau makes me laugh so hard every time she does her "I don't know anything, or do anything, or ever really impart any useful information, but everything I say is a cool oo-rah line about how The Div Gonna Give It To Ya" schtick.

Yeah, I mean don't get me wrong I can understand people coming down on games which would do this poo poo genuinely, but the Division goes out of its way to make the groups - both villain and heroic - very diverse. The "Caucasian model with face and body concealing stuff" was another step in that, precisely so people wouldn't get stuck on the racial politics. I guess that hasn't really worked though. :v:

It's just aggravating because you get people like Guy Mann who read Polygon, think they can get an epic burn in and shriek about the game while clearly having not actually played it for five minutes. Even the guys who "brag about killing cops" are - again - Caucasian models with three different voice sets. The only faction in-game with a single ethnicity in its voice set are the Cleaners, who go from Gruff Bronx to Whiny Bronx rather than the aforementioned white/black/Hispanic stuff.

Sure sure, no worries. Cheers for staying so chill. :)

Like I said, I won't ever defend its portrayal of the government and lack of the Agent's accountability, but diversity in its cast and side stories is one that's worth treating with a bit of patience. It just surprised me a lot to see an Ubisoft open world game, of all things, to be making that kind of push without slapping itself on the back.

Big Smile Lee personally appears around halfway through, when Wei becomes a Triad leader, but the game's been building to him for a long time. All through all of the earlier stuff with Dogeyes they're talking about how he's backed by Big Smile Lee, and he's linked to most of the plot missions. He's not at all out of nowhere.
The bigger problem with the story is that it's very clearly incredibly rushed, especially towards the end, and leaves a ton of poo poo unexplored and unexplained. Never addresses why Big Smile Lee apparently has a bunch of a rival Triad working for him, for example, or what happened to Ricky and Vivienne. More importantly they never really give a conclusion to the storyline of Wei getting too involved in the Triads and potentially joining them for real; they spend a ton of time on it, and then he's just suddenly a cop again and it's all good and fine. It also goes straight from finding out Commissioner Pendrew was crooked and sold you out, to finding out he's now untouchable, to... suddenly finding a perfect piece of evidence against him. IN THE SAME CUTSCENE. Very clearly like 5 hours of the game dropped there.

I think sleeping dogs should have either just been a straight up crime game with the player as a triad or just a straight up cop game (true crime) trying to do both just didn't work at all, I literally turned up at triad missions in a loving police car having mown down a street full of people, covered in blood and none of my triad buddies or the police ever gave a poo poo, there was literally no penalty at all, I know it's a videogame but jesus lol.

It's always particularly annoying when you get a choice in a conversation that's something like making a terrible deal or being inconvenienced, and so you're going to take the inconvenience, because if you say you'll take the deal then you know the game won't let you back out of it or just fail to hold up your end.
