Trogdos! posted:This is the UC4 thread but since there isn't C&I general I'm just gonna post in here that I love the Watch_Dogs 2 video on your youtube channel. The first thought I had after I saw videos of the game in its released state was "I hope C&I are going to LP this turd" I'm playing it right now, and while I'm reserving full judgement until I finish the game... it's already a hell of a lot better than the original (Which I predicted alongside a lot of people here on the thread that WD2 would be an AC2 style revamp). Brighter, funner, more cringey but for comedy, and a general sense of "We screwed up, let's do it better." Also, holy God, I don't need to climb towers. There's even a moment where the game teases you with a character going "You gotta climb this tower!" before someone else goes "He's loving with you, the elevator's on the way down." I actually laughed at that for a second.

Watch-Digs would have been so much better if Aiden could go out only wearing underwear

Watch_Dogs 1 should have been about Aiden trying to complete a single day without life taking a dump on him for being an insufferable prick, culminating in a boss battle against God which you simply can't win because Aiden is just that much of a prick.

everyone I've heard talk about watch dogs 2 seems to like it, so good on ubisoft for doing it better this time around tho if assassin's creed has taught us anything, it's that every good game is followed with a bad one so the next game will be an uninspired mess

CJacobs posted:I really dislike when people bring up this kind of point. There's quite a difference between things that are out of the realm of feasibility, and out of the realm of possibility. Tree sap zombies are not possible, so being annoyed by their presence is unreasonable. The pyrates building all these crazy elaborate things, even with their big fortunes and manpower, is possible but unfeasible. Thanks. It's less that it's a question of plausibility and more that the eventual payoff isn't proportionate to the quest itself. Questing for Shambhala or El Dorado or Iram of the Pillars has a grandeur to it that explains why people would build these incredible megaconstructions, Libertalia is just a pirate utopia containing mere money. Like, all the measures taken here to test applicants feel a bit overblown given what's actually being protected is to all appearances just a mundane, if enormous fortune.

In fairness, I suppose the pyrates could have relied upon slave labor, and it's the era for jerks to do that sort of thing. But it's never really mentioned or anything.

Like, all the measures taken here to test applicants feel a bit overblown given what's actually being protected is to all appearances just a mundane, if enormous fortune. I have to be careful because I've already beaten the game and don't want to spoil anything. My personal view on Libertalia is that it's what the Drakes keep calling it: a pirate utopia. The myth goes deeper than simply all the pirates shoving their gold in a big building and wandering off to die in battle. The blueprints and diorama suggest a serious effort to make a hidden city utilizing their riches, which can be used as a home and a base for further pirating. Rather than just another Money Pit, it's an attempt at civilization of sorts. It's a city of its own, just with an economy based on raiding and subsistence farming rather than trade of any kind. The trials suggest that the founders wanted to see Libertalia grow, but at least initially only wanted a handful of the toughest and smartest pirates to join.

I imagine Chip is having a hard time thinking up ways to keep the LP interesting while still showing off a lot of content since a huge amount of MGSV is "Do the same thing in different locations and maybe a little harder."

I like to theorize that part of the reason Watch Dogs was done in the first place was to get practice on doing an LP of a big sandbox game. My bet's that we'll get a montage of all of the repeat missions done in two or three videos (I'm saying that many to allow for the plot scenes that happen during that time). Leal's LP is certainly an example of how to do an MGSV LP, but the only other game from last year that lends itself so poorly to LPing is Witcher 3 due to sheer size.

Libertalia seems like a nice enough island, but at her peak, Ching Shih's command was the same size as the modern population of Guam. She kicked government rear end on all sides until they went "You know what? You can quit! No strings. Just please stop robbing us." So she did, and she spent the back half of her life running a casino.

Ching Shih was also active a hundred years after Avery died. Or "died" according to the game.
