depends on which version of the myth you read: hercules did in the hydra either by dropping a big-assed boulder on it, or by taking a torch and cauterizing each neck stump as he cut 'em off.

either way, it's a herculean task to fix fuckery of this particular tonnage, but it is possible to do it with some decisive action.
