Laser mines are helpful when fleeing a close range Titan because they have to take damage or go around. Also somehow it catches more pilots than one might expect. But it's totally not useful as a setup and a waste of energy you could be using to pew pew lasers.

Admittedly I suck and used to die all the time in a Titan.

Until I learned to shoot and hide. Like literally take a few shots and hide behind a building. I only go full retard on an enemy Titan when they're distracted fighting another Titan.

It'd be kinda cool if Northstar had Tone's sonar thing, because you could use it to pre-charge railgun shots and hit Titans just as they come out of cover. I mean, you can totally do that now just using other teammate's sonar abilities, but it seems like it would fit her kit more than Tether.

the worst part about the tethers is that when you cluster missile someone that got stuck in one your own cluster destroys the tether. It's really loving dumb.

Tether and particle wall should just be swapped. I always ran particle wall with the railgun in the first game.

So, apparently when you launch your entire Tone salvo core completely into the air until the last missile, it counts the core as being over with so any damage from that point on builds for the next core. You can then direct all your missiles onto a dude and get halfway to your next salvo core. Can anyone verify?

Also, this is my first "fast FPS" on the PC. I played a shitload of Halo and COD on the 360 in the past ten years. It's wildly different than what I've seen on the console videos. Any tips? I turned down my mouse sensitivity to help with keeping my shots well-placed and made one of my mouse bumpers crouch so far.

the key thing with ronin is he plays quite differently to the other titans which can really throw people for a loop because it means fighting against him is super different to most matchups. i've had so much fun with the thunderstorm kit, running around to the other side of a titan fight, hitting someone with the lightning blade, dumping a shotgun magazine into them, hitting them with another lightning blade, shooting them again, etc

There may be an option in the origin account settings, but otherwise their customer support is pretty decent and I'd try there.
Google search led me to this http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/Merging-Origin-Accounts/td-p/4260593 so contacting them is probably the way to go.

Scorch is my boy and it is very satisfying getting behind some titans and ruin their day. Shield upgrade is the way to go, got behind three titans, melee animation kills for two and got the third in the danger zone before I ejected, very satisfying.

The range on them is somehow way bigger when you're on foot than in a titan and I've killed myself too many times by shooting the mines as a pilot while thinking I was safely out of range. :argh:

If they actually let you remotely detonate them, they'd be a decent anti-pilot weapon (not that Ion needs more of that).

Ion is a skirmisher. He pokes and slaps at dudes all day in order to either piss them off and pull them away from more important places or just whack damage on to them while they're busy fighting more mainline titans.

Pop your laser shots, duck behind cover, rinse repeat until laser core.

With Tones, don't pop your shield until you've been hit 3 times/you see the missiles going. Tones have a intrinsic need to press their missile button and even if they see the shield up, they'll still shoot the missiles. The missiles are the majority of Tone's DPS.

Mines are good retreat bait because they either a) force the enemy to stand still and shoot the mines or b) force the enemy to take damage to continue the chase. So long as you keep running and building up energy, the fight will turn in your favour (barring 2+ v 1s, the Ion isn't built for that)

Is there any skill-based matchmaking in this game? It seems to be completely random whether I go up against people nearly as bad as me or Sonic the Hedgehog with a Volt and 9x prestige.

There probably is, but its likely very biased towards putting parties vs. parties as quickly as possible. Without a huge playerbase like Overwatch or CSGO they can't afford to be too discriminating.

Yes, there's supposedly skill based matchmaking although I'm pretty sure the game hugely prioritizes parties and poo poo.

https://www.titanfall.com/en_us/news/inside-development-matchmaking/

I sure can't figure it out. I played some Attrition the other day and there was a dude just blowing away the other team, we were all in the 50-60s score (I'm not good at Attrition although I top the scoreboard in Bounty Hunt) and this dude was like 150, and he was in 6 consecutive games and the game just kept shuffling him around between the two sides. He always dominated.

It's like, come on, there are 2.5k people playing Attrition online in the region, that's 250 Attrition games active, there's no way that you can't put an MLG game together for this dude. Leave us scrubs in peace.

Chances are he was partied with someone lower level. If anything it seems like the skill level of the team is determined by their lowest member, not an average over the entire team.

Honestly, It might not be the case, but like others have described, there is a standard in a lot of matches where there are 1 or 2 incredibly good players that obviously dominate the entire board while everyone else just lags behind. I was in a match the other day and a guy scored 30 kills in an attrition match and nearly 190 points. The next best person was 15 kills and nearly 110 points. If there was any logic behind their matchmaking that probably shouldn't happen so regularly.

I'm a lowly noob who just picked this up on Black Friday. Where is the best place to get good info on the PvP meta, loadouts, etc.? I was a little surprised at my inability to find anything authoritative on Google and YouTube.

Only played the Pilot and Titan mode where you bank money so far. I've been using the Scorch Titan just because I'm most framiliar with the weapon set, but I seem to be the only one doing so, so that can't be right. My Pilot's rocking the CAR and MGL. Are there more forgiving primaries? A lot of people seem to use the Charge Rifle, but I feel more effective against Titans with the MGL. Is there something I'm missing here? Are there any kits worth using other than fast regen? Pilot health pools seem very small...

Any insight for a new player would be much appreciated.

I'm in the same boat, my boy. I've been going with the CAR or R201 until I unlock something better (come to me my sweet Hemlock), and just spawning my Titan with the perk that makes it a better fighter on autopilot, because it's doing better than I would. The MGL feels a lot better than the Charge, mostly because you can get an immediate effect on target rather than waiting for the charge. I want all of the tactical perks, though. The Sonar Knife strikes my UAV itch, the Grapple is just necessary on some maps, the Cloak is surprisingly not garbage, and Stim is just awesome, but it makes me be a robot instead of a pretty lady :(

I am catching up but I just want to say the Archer is really loving good in this game since it has huge range, tracking ability and a massive amount of damage on strike. Yes it can be avoided, those are the tradeoffs. Use it when an enemy is distracted fighting friendly titans. AMP it for oodles of damage and quick build meter.

Also phase shift is hands down the "best" tactical in the game. Its literally not even close.
