Yep. Somehow, Esallen's choice to not do any research irritates me even more than the false eyelashes on the field scientist.

These islands are lots of flowing lava, but not much BOOM. The only time they get to go splody is when they are babies just building up to the sea surface (and then, it's the sea water doing it). The part of the chain that this is supposed to be set in is old. It moved off of the hot spot millions of years ago.

At this point I'm willing to settle for us not getting some weird anecdote about how the ash causes a cooling effect and thus global warming isn't real or whatever the gently caress. I don't remember Jackel Rod talking much about nature or... anything aside from weird clipart but I really do have to wonder what he would think of the madness his successor has wrought.
