ExplodingSims, hope you don't mind, I just wanted to make sure Dick sees it. I think my dad has a 5-speed T5 from a 280z or zx in our storage unit of datsun parts. No idea if it works, but there is a 280 transmission in there somewhere. In sacramento, which may or may not be on the way. We also have a grave yard of s30 parts. Edit: I'm 99% sure he'd be willing to part ways with it for a reasonable price. nm fucked around with this message at 21:33 on Nov 28, 2016 |

So I suggested to Dave and asking the people of ai. If we replace the thermo fan with just an old style flex fan that would probably solve clearance issues but what about the engine with Tbi? Would a constant fan over cool the engine?

So long as the thermostat works, I wouldn't think so. or put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator if you're worried.

Just fit a junkyard electric fan and run it off a manual switch in the cab or make sure that the engine mounts are solid and don't brake suddenly.

Run the math for a 5.20 rear end 4.10 seems ridiculously low for the size of the ring gear. Also if I may suggest a final ride height.

When I was on my way back to Chicago from Florida, a the humidity hosed up my electronics and a deer tore off my windshield wiper. First I couldn't stop because the fans wouldn't work and I'd overheat, then it started raining and I had to stay above 75mph, otherwise the rain would stick and obscure the windshield. It's like being a shark, move or die I made it ~600 miles like that, I'm sure that the truck should be able to do the same

5.43 is about 100rpm higher for both speeds. 6.17 puts 55 at 3100 and 95 at 5400. I would hope that it has the 5.43 gearing, but given that it was used for heavy haulage, 6.17 seems more likely. This is all assuming 37" tires by the way, and ignores weight.
