Anyone want to buy a Mazda LMP2 so you too can be SKYACTIV?*

*SKYACTIV not included.

Racer.com says they're asking $200,000-250,000 each, sans engine.

Well, given Mazda's engine reliability, you'll not show up to the second round :v:

Engine not included with the chassis :(

Considering how many idle pre-17 spec Ligiers/Morgans/Zyteks there are out there that price seems a little high, even if they are still eligible for IMSA next year.

I see they went with the LS. Safe choice, but kinda a boring one. Was hoping for the ATS-V.R's twin turbo v6, for something a bit more cutting edge, but I suppose why change what's worked for you in the past, the LS is a proven reliable entity.

people always forget that the LS is a super light engine

displacement aside, you make power more reliably at near the same weight as a V6TT

e- the LS is also dimensionally smaller than most V8's despite the large displacement

Some research shows that the GM V6TT is ~20 more pounds heavier than the LT1.

I think fresh from the factory, could be wrong and never really got any solid answers.

Oh boy! Rebellion will be doing the IMSA enduros in 2017. Heidfeld, Jani, and Buemi.

In other news, WTCC is considering adding joke laps. Or joker laps, not that there's a difference.

Rebellion isn't that surprising. But WTCC continuing to be a joke isn't either.

It's incredible how they don't get that touring cars almost always look like poo poo when you run them in places like Bahrain and Qatar.

Engine, I think the nose profile is ever so slightly pointier, it has cadillac-y headlights, and the front diffuser exit vanes just behind the front wheels are angled forward instead of straight up and down.

Much happier with Mazda's but this is good too.

I've always seen WTCC as a low-effort, it-exists-because-it-has-to series. All the national touring car series are way more popular internationally (I assume) but the FIA just has to have a world champion crowned in the discipline so yeah let's throw something together with whatever circuits we have laying around.

If I were in charge of things, I'd make WTCC a support series to the entire national touring car system. Hold an international round at prestigious national TC events around the world, for which wildcard entries from the host country could join. National interest in the international series would get a boost, and international interest in the national series would also get a boost. Everyone wins.

it's worked out really well so far. The Nissan kit for ESM is still to come, but it should be good (and we know it'll use the GT3 GT-R lump so should be solid to drive).

DPi is going to be pretty awesome next year guys. Can't wait for Daytona.

Racing history is cyclical, prototypes always escalate in a technical and pricing cold war until all the manufacturers quit, and then they redo it all after a refractory period.
