I'm glad they dumped the old alternating leagues system too and went with whichever pennant winner has the best regular season record. There's enough interleague play now where the team with the best record is probably the one that deserves home field.

Players on the winning team of the ASG will get a cash bonus instead. That's probably a much better incentive for players than home field advantage in the WS.

Most likely something like that, yeah. The restructuring of the franchise makes it look like they're moving forward with plans, too, so hopefully they drop some concept art or something soon. They've apparently been considering a downtown ballpark for a while now, but land is set up around there in a really, really strange way.
