When they say you can't coast in 1st 2nd or 3rd but 4th is okay, why is that? What would happen if he took his foot off the gas? Im guessing it would just stall the engine?

Because its a two stroke where the oil is mixed with the fuel. If you use engine braking to slow down or coast, you dont get enough oil and risk damaging the engine. 4th has a freewheel device that means the wheels cannot drive the engine around and you dont have any engine braking. The engine idles while the car rolls freely forewards.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3cFfM3r510 Freevalve is loving awesome and I cant wait until it's actually implemented en masse. 40%+ gains in both power and torque, with a smaller, lighter engine? Yes please.

I really want to see this tech succeed. If the numbers aren't fudged it stands to benefit manufacturers and consumers alike with benefits also to the environment. Less parts means less repair costs typically. I would bet that as long as the central systems stayed in good shape it would be close to trivial to replace a valve in one of these things, since you wouldn't have to adjust timing fix valve trains or gently caress with anything else.

Hopefully they'll use it with non-interference engines I initially saw this a year or so ago when they first let some info out. It is Koeinigsegg but the numbers still sound too good to be true - 40% power and torque increase, with 15% fuel consumption decrease and lower emissions and weight? gently caress, that's magic. That said, if it's so great and works well, why aren't they working on it with VW or BMW or something instead of this no-name Chinese stuff?

I just watched every episode of Project Binky for the first time over the last 3 days. ...I have come to learn that in 3 years they've only made 14 loving videos...and in those 14 videos and 3 years they've not made a car that has any interior, paint, or ability to move under its own power. This is gonna be blueballs forever

I enjoyed the 14 videos tremendously...but man they're worse than man about long projects. It also drives me nuts that they don't sandblast/clean the front and rear subframes and associated Celica parts.

To be fair to them they're already running a business and Binky is a 'late evenings and the occasional weekend' project. If they had the cash to spend a set amount of time on it, it'd be done already, but this means we get the occasional surprise video just when we forget it exists.

When you are test fitting and experimenting, doing any kind of finishing work is a bad idea. Only do it when the frames are going to be bolted on for the final time. And also this exactly they have been at pains to stress over and over again on their Faceballs page. They got mouths to feed and a business to run. Binky sits in one part of their workshop until they have time/money to work on it.
