This is news to me. Didn't they play at Cricket Wireless/Sleep Train/Coors Light/whatever stadium just off of the 8?

Just send the Chargers to play at RIMAC field at this rate. Otherwise, give up Qualcomm's parking lot in order to build a new stadium, then tear down and repave the existing location during week 1 of the playoffs.

"Cricket Wireless/Sleep Train/Coors Light/whatever" is an amphitheater, not a stadium, and it's down south in Chula Vista. Qualcomm is just off the 8.

OAKLAND, Calif. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A framework deal is in place to keep the Raiders in Oakland, NBC Bay Area reports.

On Tuesday morning, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf reached a framework deal with a group led by ex-NFL player -- and former Raider -- Ronnie Lott.

According to NBC Bay Area, Schaaf's office will be meeting with representatives from the county and the city council in closed session over the next few days.

Slight issue is that plan is with people who want to buy the Raiders and not with the Raiders themselves. Mark Davis has 0 interest in selling the team.

Did they come up with a framework for how Ronnie Lott is going to acquire the Raiders? Perhaps by utilizing a porn star to seduce and betray Mark? Radiowave brain control device? Hold him at gunpoint?

On the plus side Stan Kroenke's gonna be so drat salty not only having to share his stadium but also the Raiders being a four hour drive away from LA and they're probably gonna steal part of the Rams fanbase.

I'm still hoping some billionaire sugar daddy wants to make Oakland great again and wipe and re-build the Coliseum just for the Raiders.

I think the A's are mega-hosed though and need to move to Portland or something. I say this as an A's fan for a zillion years (went to a game in 1974). :corsair:

The A's just lost their small market designation in the new baseball CBA too, meaning they won't get revenue sharing cash anymore after it's phased out for them in 4 years. Kinda makes me think either they're going to get some muscle from MLB for building a new place or they're just screwed, I have no idea which.

The Raiders moving is probably a good thing for them, one less wrench in things if they actually manage to put a reasonable plan together somehow.

Do the Chargers move next year and share the LA Coliseum or do they have a couple of lame duck seasons in SD until Inglewood gets built?

Is sharing a stadium with Kroenke really better than a new stadium at the Qualcomm site? If you literally are only after population density, then yeah LA is the place to be, but I would argue that the Rams experience so far shows that simply being an NFL team existing in LA is not enough to justify these huge valuations. Dominate the SD market, or get 10% of the LA market maybe? If I'm an investor valuing this team, I would look at actual attendance and viewership of Rams games, and pay half of what the Rams are worth (bc of their historical attachment to the city, which the chargers don't have). Does that number come out to more than what the team is worth in SD?? And not to mention he'd forfeit all of the stadium ownership benefits (advertising and whatnot), I just can't see how LA is worth it. The value of deans stake in the team may go up in LA, but I'm not sure it's as much of a slam dunk that he wants to believe.

And aside from Dean's stake, what about the NFL? Is losing the SD market and generating all this bad faith really worth giving a valuation boost to one owner and saturating another market with basically its 3rd team? Just dumb all around IMO.

Pretty sure the last thing Spanos wants to do is go to LA. But it's a brand new world class stadium the chargers will be able to play in for decades on the cheap, as opposed to renting the same shitheap in San Diego year after year and hoping something changes.

If this was the case, Spanos would have left last year when the NFL said he could leave. He stayed even when he knew a vote would fail.

I don't think they're leaving, even though they probably should
