Does it count as primary salt if I talk about the time somebody on my Facebook feed reposted a thinkpiece about how everyone needed to stop criticizing the "wonkosphere" for being so pro-Clinton? Because I thought that was super pretentious, and if I, the most pretentious dude on the planet, think that about something it's gotta be pretty bad

I appreciated some of those ads they are talking about it. My son just turned 2 whether Trump gets 4 or 8 years, he is going to be the first president that he remembers. Call me a lazy parent but life is already hosed up enough as it is, I would have relished the chance to not have to explain to him at some point why it's ok for the president to grab some pussy, but that he shouldn't do it. But then again, to me and everyone on this board you're already preaching to the choir.

It's also hard to judge whether those TV ads were a failure or not. I think Hillary actually did flip a lot of moderate republicans in Philly and the suburbs, which is what those ads were intended to do. In my county Trump ran about 6 or 7 points behind Toomey who didn't have that kind baggage. The voter apathy was her biggest problem, if she had turned out more black voters in Philadelphia, Flint, Detroit and whatever cities you Wisconsinites have, we'd be talking about the death throes of the GOP today instead.

Do you mean in the sense that all of what they know is wrong, or in the sense that no one actually pays attention to people like them?

Because the first would be a drastic overreaction (especially given that many of the Clinton campaign's failures came from ignoring pretty basic poli-sci stuff) and the second is pure lol-worthy naivete.

If Clinton had won the Republicans would still control the House, the Senate, most statehouses, and most governorships. The GOP would still be a totally viable party if Trump had lost.

The presidency isn't the only office that matters.

How did Clinton's numbers compare to the last white person that ran though, there was expected to be a bit of a dip in comparison to the first minority president.

The difference is that Romney was running against Obama, who had an obvious advantage over Clinton in that he had not been poisoned in the primary by the coward Bernie Sanders

I have not been able to find exit polls that actually compare raw numbers of votes. All I can find is percentages. He didn't necessarily improve on Romney if what happened was less Democrats in a specific demographic showed up.

Could only find exist poll data:

She seems to be just above Kerry with blacks, and blew him up with the latinos. Overall, she seems to have done as well as Gore, with latinos making up for the white losses.

I'd love to know why latinos evidently decided not to vote in 2004. Also, why asians weren't included in this.

Can we start treating people who complain about millennials the same way all spiteful geriatrics get treated? I just want it to be socially acceptable to never take anything they say seriously and talk down to them with the same tone most people have when talking to someone with Alzheimer's.

I think it's still going to be hard for Democrats because state and local GOPs are supported by chambers of commerce and industry-specific associations. They're enfranchised and organized by default. They have huge advantages to get their candidates elected and get their policies pushed.
