Okay, I didn't rest for an in-game week and managed to collect 45,000 EXP in that time. Stayed at the Quay Inn that doubles your EXP gain, and I shot from level 16 to 33.

It's amazing to me that half the voice acting in this game is actually far worse than anything that's been in an FF game since 10.

Like all the Southern accents, they're not accurate and also they're bad. And the guy who sounds like Vito Corlione. And basically everyone that isn't Cid or the main cast.

You see a loading screen literally every time you fast travel so unless you've been driving everywhere (which is dumb and takes longer than the loading screen) then I don't know what to say.

Like here is how most trips go for me during the open-world parts: Get quest -> Walk back to car/Fast Travel to Car (depending on distance) -> Drive to quest location or as close as possible -> Fast travel back to car -> Fast travel to quest giver. That's about 2 loading screens per quest alone and there's no reason not to use the fast travel because you're just returning the way you came.

I don't think I've fast traveled once since I started the game, I just cruise around getting AP while watching the scenery go by, while i'm reading on the internet and watching shows. But i'm also incapable of not multitasking.

Also it seems like only certain weapons are capable of link-striking, Almost every back attack I do with a Lance or Greatsword will start one, but I don't think I ever get them while back attacking with like daggers or a shield, is there a list somewhere?

I'm super broke too. After doing basically all the sidequests I could finish at my level, I was still only sitting at 7k gil. I think the play would probably be to stay at a cheap inn to reset the treasure points and just grab accessories for cash, they sell for like 1k gil each.

e: going through A Stroll for Two and I'm very glad Noctis is reacting to this whole scene very much the same way I am

You're supposed to do Hunts and sell treasures to get cash

Also if you're wondering why there's no boss at the Ravatough dungeon it looks like you have to activate a level 67 hunt at Vernias Mart to get it to spawn

Cash is hunts or nothing, seems like. Selling stuff is not recommended because so much of it is used for quests and upgrades.

Just do hunts. They give you more cash than you'll reasonably spend.

In addition to what others have said about hunts, there's also the super-easy photography sidequest that a neckbeard gives you in Lestallum. He pays you top dollar just to drive around and take a few pictures, no combat required (other than anything you may run into in the field of course).

Trick Question
Apr 9, 2007

So, I read this thread before I played the game, and everyone was saying that the main story was too easy. So, I decided to try playing it while doing very few sidequests, basically no hunts, not buying very many upgrades, and basically just rushing the story. "This way, things will stay challenging, and then I'll also be able to have fun with the side content!" Is what I thought.

Pro-tip: don't do this. The moment you step into a cave with billions of dudes crammed into a tiny area all attacking you the game turns to absolute poo poo, and the bosses basically fluctuate between still-boring super-scripted bosses and complete bullshit bosses with, as far as I can tell, unavoidable attacks. I'd much rather be overeleveled. Is the side-content better?

Okay A Stroll for Two is absolutely hilarious. It's like the most stereotypical FF date scene ever and Noctis is just audibly groaning the whole time. I got really upset when this scene started because I was really enjoying not having to put up with relationship melodrama again in a FF game but I'm happy that Noctis is shutting this down

I pre-ordered the base game on PS4 and then bought the Season Pass which is supposed to include the Gourmand Set. I purchased the Season Pass but nothing has been downloaded and nothing new shows up under add-ons (alongside the 3 pre-order bonuses). Is the Gourmand Set coming out later if you didn't buy the premium deluxe edition?

If this was the marginally hyped and modestly funded The Last Story 2 and NOT FF15: the ten-years in the making behemoth that almost bankrupted Square and finally broke Nomura for good, this would be getting 6s or 7s across the board. 10 years is ridiculous and I think people are still in a daze that this thing wasn't vaporware afterall.

Not feeling the battle system so far. It's a whole lot of "Hold O and Walk" and "Hold Block but still get Hit" so far and its hard to see where the hits are coming from. Not my bag (console Bravely Default please), but I'm glad everyone is having fun! The blowback on this in a year or so is gonna be deafening I think.

This wasn't in development for 10 years, it absolutely didn't almost bankrupt Square, Nomura is directing Kingdom Hearts 3, if you're holding block and got hit it is because you were caught during an animation or in Stasis.

Does camping in trailers ever trigger extra scenes? I thought only campsites had them until I got one with Prompto at a motel with a weirdly heartfelt and personal conversation.

e: also went through the very beginning of the game to show it to someone else, just a simple yes or no will suffice but do I ever get to play as old Noctis from the very first cutscene, and/or does that ever get expanded on. I wanna play old Noctis

There's a lot wrong with this post but I do think you are right that time will not look particularly kindly on this weird loving game. I think I like FFXV precisely because it's so weird -- it's the first FF game in a long while to try/borrow some new things besides incrementally-prettier graphics and tinkering with the ATB system. Not all of the new stuff lands and there's a couple jarring places in the main story that all but have "SCENE MISSING" placards, but it's going to be a great base for XV-2 or XVI or Prompto's Requiem or whatever else is next.
