Draws walks and hits for power. Won a Gold Glove when he was younger. Stuffy McInnis 1911, 20 years old. Excellent contact hitter. Can theoretically play shortstop, but has a deadball glove. Reggie Jefferson 1995, 26 years old. Never appeared in the SL before. Switch hitter with midrange power, career .300 batting average. Not good defensively. Second base: Jeff Kent 2003, 35 years old. Still adequate defensively. Hits for midrange power with a lot of doubles in the SL. Steve Sax 1983, 23 years old. Career .281 hitter with 444 steals. Broke .300 a few times. He developed defensive problems latter in his career when he joined the Yankees, but was still fine in the '80s. Bill Doran 1984, 26 years old. Switch hitter with a pretty decent glove. More career walks than Ks, which Mogul likes. He'll steal some bases, but Mogul probably won't respect his power. Craig Biggio 2003, 37 years old. Not quite washed up. Plays several positions, decent utility man. Mogul doesn't respect his bat. Third base: Darrell Evans 1983, 36 years old. Still had several good years in him. Bats lefty. Mogul adores his defense, and lets him hit some home runs along the way. Also top notch defensively at 1B. Odell Hale 1935, 26 years old. Strong contact hitter with doubles power. Glove is nothing special, but won't kill you. He can fill in at 2B as well. Art Howe 1979, 29 years old. Good glove with okay contact skills and a few doubles thrown in. Doesn't strike out much for a modern player. Can fill in at 2B. Ray Knight 1984, 31 years old. Say it again: contact hitter with passable doubles power. Nothing special defensively. Shortstop: Bobby Wallace 1899, 25 years old. At his peak he was a .300 hitter with good power for a deadballer, but he hung on well into his 40s and killed his career numbers. Mogul gives him a good rating, but it tends to be mostly singles hitting. Sparky Adams 1925, 30 years old. Solid at 2B and 3B, but most valuable at SS. Great glove, hits doubles and steals bases. Never, ever, ever strikes out. Eric McNair 1939, 30 years old. Can play some 2B and 3B, but was primarily a SS. Adequate glove, decent power for the era. Dickie Thon, 1983 or 1984, 25 or 26 years old. Superstar SS whose career was derailed when he was beaned early in the '84 season. Before the injury, he was a 20 HR, 30 steal player who only lost out on the Gold Glove because Ozzie Smith exists. Left Field: Tim Raines 1983, 23 years old. Arguably the 2nd best leadoff hitter of all time. Ben Oglivie 1981, 32 years old. Good power, decent contact, passable glove. Lefty. Can theoretically play RF as well. Mogul's AI seems to like him. Jose Cruz, Sr 1979, 31 years old. The good one, not the lovely one. Lefty, plays all three outfield spots but spent the most time in LF. Solid contact hitter with good speed. Doesn't have Super League power. Center Field: Lloyd Waner 1936, 30 years old. The "bad" Waner, in that he "only" hit .316 for his career. Mogul says he can also play LF. Never, ever, ever strikes out. STORMIN GORMAN THOMAS 1981, 30 years old. Big time power, big time strikeouts. When he's bad, he'll hit .150. When he's good, he'll hit 150 dingers. But his secret weapon is his glove: he's much, much better than you'd expect defensively. Jerry Mumphrey 1984, 31 years old. He's so boring next to Stormin' Gorman! But he switch hits with good contact skills, plays a solid center field, and once managed 52 steals with only 5 caught stealing. Right Field: Sam Rice 1920, 30 years old. Hall of Fame contact hitter, career average .322. Steals bases, hits for doubles/triples power, and never strikes out. Can play some CF if you need it, though RF is his natural spot. Reggie Jackson 1968, 22 years old. Team him up with Stormin' Gorman, and have fun! Terry Puhl, 1979 or 1984, 22 or 27 years old. Speedster with some contact skills. Can play CF a bit, too. Jeffrey Leonard 1979, 23 years old. Plays all three outfield positions, probably doesn't hit enough for the SL. But he was apparently nicknamed "Penitentiary Face" so there's that. Leon Durham 1983, 25 years old. Lefty with decent power and speed. His career fizzled out fairly young. Kevin Bass 1984, 25 years old. Switch hitter with decent power and speed. Also fizzled out after only a few good seasons. Richard Hidalgo 2003, 28 years old. Righty with power. Fizzled out after only a few seasons, again. Pedro Guerrero 1983, 27 years old. One of the best RH hitters of the 80s. .300 career average with 30 HR power. Stole the occasional base. Not a good defender, but can play 3B, LF, and 1B in a pinch, in addition to RF. Technically played 108 games in CF. Do not play Pedro Guerrero in CF. Starting Pitching: J.R. Richard 1979, 29 years old. His absolute peak, when he finally started to get his amazing stuff under control. 313 strikeouts, just 13 HR allowed. Expensive if you want him, but I'll listen. Zack Greinke 2008, 24 years old. Just hitting his prime. Lots of strikeouts, not many walks. Pete Vuckovich 1981, 28 years old. "He would fidget, twitch, pace, and convulse while on the mound. He was known to cross his eyes and stick his tongue out at batters. He would spit in his glove, scream at umpires while in the stretch, and sometimes step to the back of the mound and dry heave." Also played Big Clu Haywood in the film Major League. Wait, why am I trading this guy? Sam McDowell 1968, 25 years old. Led the AL in Ks five times. Unhittable when he was on, struggled with control when he was off. Joaquin Andujar 1979, 26 years old. Ground ball pitcher with above average control and some strikeouts mixed in. Pascual Perez 1983, 26 years old. "He often drew the ire of his opponents, using an imaginary finger gun to shoot opponents," and he also threw the Eephus pitch. He also had a reputation as a beanball artist, which makes his death by brain injury morbidly ironic. Fernando Valenzuela 1983, 22 years old. Screwball specialist and one of the greatest pitchers of the 80s. They named a Mania after him, he must be good. Mike LaCoss 1984, 28 years old. Mediocre in real life, sneaky good in Mogul. Sky high ground ball rate and never gives up home runs. Mario Soto 1983, 26 years old. Better-than-you'd-think power pitcher who led the league in K/9 twice before the Reds managed to blow out his arm from overuse. Relief Pitching: Gary Lavelle 1983, 34 years old. Extreme ground ball LHP. Gets a lot of Ks for a ground ball pitcher. Check his SLRef page. Pete Ladd 1979, 22 years old. One year wonder in the big leagues, but you may get a lucky roll. You could argue that by using him, you technically get control of the Premodernists. Bill Dawley 1983, 25 years old. Ground ball artist with a decent K rate.
