Speaking, however briefly, of console WoT, the gift tank this year is a free MTLS (the one with the dual 37mm autocannons and TTK of basically zero), and the Canadian aka US Sexton I is on sale, with its 0.47 dispersion. The console dev team believes in the Modern Warfare 2 strategy of "if everything's broken, nothing is."

Yeah, it really is. They had a series of "earn a Tier 8 premium free" operations this year, which is actually a pretty good way to ensure Tier 8 doesn't wither into getting slammed into games with 10s all the time. Much less onerous than the T-44-100, at least so it seemed, and there were more of them (T 54 mod 1, CDC, Chieftain/T 95), plus a few sixes and sevens. Black tanks. Seriously - full price black tanks. They've come up with a way to sell premium tanks that even I won't buy - and I buy every piece of poo poo thrown up on that premium shop. But they "heard our feedback loud and clear," so if you already own an IS6 or a T34 you can buy the black ones for 50% off. THAT'S NOT THE POINT FOR gently caress'S SAKE People will buy $5 skins. People will buy a shitload of $5 skins. How can they NOT know this by now? Their goddamn premium shop should be FULL of $5 skins. Which scenario is better: quote:Wargaming: "But these "special" black tanks are really marketed to people that don't have an IS6 or T34 already." or this: quote:Bizarro Wargaming: "Let's see what happens if we put a $5 black IS6 skin in the premium shop for lulz." 30 minutes later: "We just made A GAZILLION RUBLES COMRADE!" *does the Katyusha and buys several rugs to place on wall*

I play the console version of World of Tanks (PS4) and I agree that the DLC pricing is absurd. Like they recently advertised a bundle of tanks as 25% off, yet if you added up the cost of the tanks they were actually charging significantly more than the bundled tanks cost in total. The logic for the advertised discount being the cost of the bundled silver being some insane amount. Similar pricing and "discounts" happen constantly. Then you end up with stuff like the black tanks - overpriced premium time attached to specific vehicles. Funnily enough the one good offer console WoT has had in the last few months has been a year of premium for half price. However they only sold that for one day, buried news of it within a post about something else and in the store it wasn't even marked as being discounted. Strange...

You have to be an extraordinarily good player to make the top 10cm work consistently, ESPECIALLY in non-tier8-matches. And when you're not just not a good player, but if you're an average, or - god forbid - garbage player, this is what happens. The howitzer would have given the dude the chance to whittle you down by 300-400 damage every 12 seconds, and murder your crew/modules in the process. It would have been a literal waiting game for him if you'd done nothing at all, which you probably wouldn't have. Him forcing you out of your cover would have gotten you killed by the other 3 tanks you were avoiding... Uuuugh...how do players not see the imperial glory of the 15cm?

I really like the 10cm because A) I'm good enough to make it work, and B) people occasionally assume I'm using the 15cm and try and push during my reload, so I can really take advantage of the DPM. It's occasionally a problem when I face something I can't pen reliably, though, I'll admit. Personally I think it's great that the O-Ho has two actually viable gun options, it's a high-risk high-reward DPM gun vs good old reliable derping. Let players do your work for you and pay you while they're at it? NOPE! That's not the Wargaming way! More corridor maps, comrades! That right there - the crew training nonsense - is the biggest scam in WOT by far in my opinion and it's been running since day loving one. Saying that you can retrain for free to get 50% proficiency or for 50k credits for 75% (actually I don't recall the percentages; it's just not worth it to do anything except for 100% training) or that you can train in premium tanks to get the basic operational skills to man a position on a tank is absolutely outrageous. Say you want to take a tank line to tier 10 and start gold training at the tier 5 tank. The tier 5 tank has a 5 man crew, and starting at tier 8 the crew is down to 4 because there is no radio operator. Tier 5: 200g x 5 = 1000g Tier 6: 200g x 5 = 1000g Tier 7: 200g x 5 = 1000g Tier 8: 200g x 4 = 800g; plus you now have a radio operator only useful for that loving oddball premium that needs one when none of your other tanks do. Tier 9: 200g x 4 = 800g Tier 10: 200g x 4 = 800g Total: 5400 gold. And it doesn't make a difference whether or not you're moving a crew up in tiers and selling the lower-tier tank or keeping the lower-tier tank and training another crew for the next tier up; you're still paying 5400 gold just to be able to run your tank at advertised values from the first battle you play in it. Or, retraining in a premium? Sure - first, you have to have a premium with the same or similar crew composition of the correct nation and class, but then you have to play that tank - which is already a "nerfed" tank in some way because it is a premium - with a crew that sucks balls. Assuming you have to buy gold, of course - most folks don't play in weekly tournaments in order to earn it by playing - and assuming you buy the most economical gold deal, 25K gold is $100 - so 5400 gold at that rate is like $22 bucks. That's $22.00 USD spent on crew training per tank line - unless you want to play with gimped tanks. And if you want your tier 10 to have a 3-skill crew by the time you unlock the tank, you're going to have to gold train. Look - I'm one of those players that buys camos, emblems, and inscriptions; and I pay gold for them. other than the camo, that's gold spent on nothing of value. I have no problem with that. But not spending that gold doesn't put me at a disadvantage...not training your crew to 100%? That's a useless nerf and arguably a disservice to your team. And that's not even taking into consideration experience conversion from other tanks to free experience so that you can upgrade from the lovely stock tank configuration. Crew training shouldn't even be a thing - you unlock a tank via experience in the previous tank; you buy the tank, and your crew should be able to move on up as qualified crewmen and even retain their previous experience in the lower-tier tanks. You'd have a crew for each tank line up the tree, and shouldn't have to gently caress around with multiple radio operators and commanders who are also loaders on one tank but radio operators on the next, and you have to hire a loader for that tier tank to do what the commander was doing at the lower tier...it's nonsense. This is one of the few ways that AW is actually better - WOT wouldn't have to copy AW, but even the more streamlined way they handle crew training on the consoles is still bullshit. There are plenty of other ways to get players to spend gold - LIKE TANK SKINS, for gently caress's sake. I don't really think so much that it's the non-noob friendly community, or the gameplay, or the matchmaking, or the lopsided games that discourage new players. It's the typical F2P bullshit. Crew training is P2W. Converting experience to free experience to unlock more effective tank modules is P2W. Equipment - no; not really - you absolutely can come up with the credits for equipment, consumables, and skill rounds - but crew training & freexp conversion as-is in the game right now is absolutely insulting to the player. Thank you for your time.

Gold rounds all btw. The lower plate of a Tiger II coming up a hill should not bounce 217 pen gold rounds multiple times. The problem is that Wargaming have steadily strengthened "weak points" such that a lot of those weak points aren't actually weak. The lower plate of the Tiger 2 is 100mm of armor, but there's a significant strip of 150mm armor near the beak that can eat shells. The cupolas of the Tiger 2 are basically magic that may or may not be damaged by a pen, the cupola on the T34 is an autobounce now (and the roof is an autopen because that makes sense I guess) and poo poo like the E5 technically has a weakspot, but even shooting it with 340mm pen HEAT may or may not pen. Couple that with #snapshotmeta and standing still to take fully aimed shots being substantially punished by other game mechanics and you have a recipe for a bunch of RNG horseshit.
