I'm startin' to think a lot of Liberals and Democrats just don't actually believe in politics. Like, they just can't believe that political forces can do anything. It's about managing things and getting out of the way of forces, not actually taking hold of the government and the economy and doing stuff. Look how many "we can'ts" there are out there, they can't conceive of a world where anywhere other than big cities flourish. "Here's why they aren't," is always the answer I see. The next point, "here's how we can make things better," isn't really brought up. It's not enough to diagnose reality, you know? You have to say how you'll change it. Being aware of a problem and pointing it out doesn't do anything. It's not courageous to say "your jobs aren't coming back" to people who, deep down, fuckin' know their jobs aren't. It's mean. A politician without a vision for the future isn't really a political figure, they're an elected manager.
