Working Daze may be a webcomic, but it is also co-written by John Zakour, who had a hand in some other strip that used to be posted here. Side gigs of newspaper comics writers have always been allowed. That's why we all have to look at Pigporn all the time.

UNLESS... I actually don't remember what that other strip was. If that was a webcomic too, then anti-Working Daze people may have a point. That said, the scroll button is pretty easy to find. I use it all the time when people post such comics as Rose is Rose or Dinette Set.

That's a pretty common speech pattern for old-timey Marvel villians. I mean, all you'd have to do is strike out "Ronan" and substitute "Doom" to make it a Doctor Doom speech.

I can't remember if ZNJ started getting posted because a newspaper picked it up or because it came up on GoComics.

Either way, I'm forced to conclude that arguing for or against Working Daze requires entirely too much thought about Zakour's comics.

Don't lump Dinette Set with Dorking Daze and Unintelligent Tripe. Dinette is actually good and has a sort of Todd Solonz-y vibe to it which I like. It is about horrible tiny people living their horrible tiny lives and I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea but it depicts its material very well and in an entertaining way.

It's still nothing compared to Creeps. I want more Creeps.

I've said it before, but Dinette Set is great because of the contempt it has for its characters, the demographic they represent, and the culture they live in. I would actually love to read a week of Working Daze or Intelligent Life by Julie Larson; that would probably be far meaner than anything I could say or point out about them in this thread.

I can't decide if the worst thing about Take it From the Tinkersons is the strip existing in the first place, or that its presence implies the existence of a target group that would consider this kind of preemptive subservience about a completely irrelevant issue a relatable situation.

It's like the Dinette Set, but worse, because it considers its characters normal.

I know I could just look this comic up myself, but I'm curious of anyone would explain what specifically was so awful about Zachary Nixon Johnson. Also, as far as ancient thread history goes, what happened to Lost Side of Suburbia?

Oh, and speaking of comics with dubious thread relevance-

Nina's Adventures

Now, as to why I'm posting these and where I got them-

...Yes, Dave Sim, of all people, took time to endorse Nina Paley's comics in a Cerebus issue. Dave Sim did this pretty frequently, because he was big on self-publishing. It's the best resource I've been able for find when it comes to getting an idea of what exactly the independent comic book scene looked like before the Internet. The titles advertised are, unsurprisingly, almost impossible to find today even when you know their names.

I've considered posting stuff from these previews before but, as noted, they're not exactly comic strips. Aside from this Nina's Adventures feature the only other one I have that seems close is an update of Rarebit Fiends.

It's All Right Chief Dharma

Anyway, back to the usual.

I get the impression sometimes that Chief Dharma is intended as a public service announcement. CCTV is, in fact, pretty much everywhere in South Korea. Kind of unnerving how no one seems to think of this as a big deal, especially with all the usual propaganda about how North Korea is a police state for keeping people under surveillance all the time.
