The orchestras and chorus are local musicians, only the projection stuff and the conductor actually "tour". In the Bay Area, we do the SF show in the summer and the SJ show in the winter. Looks like there are a lot of pictures of the SF show up on the site now.

Yeah we knew it's done with locals, we saw some familiar faces performing. How does prepping work? Presumably you got the score weeks ahead of time and can prepare... Does the conductor show up in town with the video file a day or two before, and you quick throw it together with one or two rehearsals?

Does the conductor show up in town with the video file a day or two before, and you quick throw it together with one or two rehearsals? That's pretty much it. We get the score about 2 months prior, and have to learn it on our own. Then we walk in on the day of the concert and rehearse with a piano and the conductor around 1:30, hit the stage to rehearse with the orchestra and the projections around 3, get a dinner break at 5:30, then the show's at 8. It's a busy day but... it's a living! It's definitely easier this year since the concert order hasn't really changed, except they added in 2 new pieces for the new 3DS and WiiU games. Plus it's almost all "oo" and "aah" anyway, except for a few sections of "Hyrulian" (which sounds about what a Japanese composer thinks Latin sounds like). Blast of Confetti posted:tell someone to release a loving dvd of the concert thanks Yeah, I wish. I think that's up to Nintendo, not the production company. If they did put something out, it'd probably be with the Tokyo Philharmonic or something. Which is a shame because in the Bay Area, we're performing with the Skywalker Ranch Orchestra and those guys kick rear end. Stryder fucked around with this message at 08:32 on Dec 7, 2016 |

Does that mean you alone in your bedroom, or does the chorus (and orchestra?) rehearse en masse with some local conductor who then steps aside when the touring bigwig shows up?

In this case, it means "learn it in your bedroom" (or living room, where the piano is). For some other productions like when we did the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Live, we had a few months of preparation with a choir master and accompanist, with formal weekly rehearsals until the week of the gig, when we had several dress rehearsals before the performances. The orchestras are all full-time union players so they're expected to know their stuff on their own and usually just get one or two rehearsals with the conductor before performances.

i never played a james pond game, but iirc they were made/published by the same people who did the Creatures series, which was a virtual life sandbox with some of the more advanced genetics and ai ever seen in a game. the soundtrack was very atmospheric between the games but mostly quite good.

I have a hard time thinking of games with similar mechanics and set up I'd say the original still kind of holds up, the mechanics are decent and the combat is fun, though you feel like they could have done more with the moving around the map with the sewers stuff in a sequel. The somewhat cartoony art direction has also helped the graphics in not looking too outdated I feel.
