I think his magic secret is his soundtracks are mostly NOT atmospheric, moody, or have the many trappings of a soundtrack. It's just cool music that kinda fits the setting. It all entirely stands on its own. I bought the special edition bundle of Tiberian Sun that came with Firestorem and a copy of the C&C soundtrack, despite already having three copies, because I wanted the soundtrack.

to me it's the sound of a quality soundtrack. I played the games and loved them. But that was almost 20 years ago. The fact that my mind still recalls those songs when they seem appropriate helps show how inexplicably impactful they were.
