I liked to put them in a weird grid with spaces between each, preferably in a big open room.

Kinda fun creating them in a certain pattern.

The shop thing makes sense from a flavor perspective too because it's not actually building a shop, it's just opening a portal to the shop dimension.

I like to imagine it's become a serious problem on the surface and any time you walk through a door there's a 50/50 chance you end up in Frieda's Fantastical Fripperies. The ones you find in the dungeon just couldn't afford any good real estate.

No idea why it's "hosed up", but perhaps this bit will help you: the way Gozag bribe works is taken straight from real life. If you pay enough money, people will look away when you murder their neighbours. If you pay some more, they will even taken part. Maybe not all of them, but enough. And the people at the top tend to be more susceptible for this...

I intentionally made Gozag as a parable for how money can ruin human society. You may not like that, or how I go at it, but it's a lot of corruption in my mind.

And yes, gently caress nazis.

Go gargoyle for first win.

Yeah I havent played Gozag the gozerian very much but I like the conceit of creating a shop within the existing framework.

Second. My first win was a GrFi^Chei, and it was pretty much easy mode. 55AC, 22EV, 26SH, reflection, and at least two pips in every resistance... the guy was a lot of fun.

It's just an expression. like:

It's hosed up that when my dog wears pants everyone says how cute he is but nobody says that about me when I wear pants.

It's hosed up that you gotta buy something from the taco bell before they give you hot sauce packets.

It's hosed up that Okawaru always gives me a freezing triple sword right after I get my 15th rune.

It's hosed up that people can make some jokes but when I post nazi crap they get all sensitive.

I'd love to make this large shopping mall in the shape of a dong. But to avoid conflict, all of my designs will be inoffensive squares and rectangles.

I'm really bad at flimsy races and pure casters, but deep elf enchanter of Chei is really good. Their +3 hexes aptitude means basically everything gets confused.

As long as it's a one-hander, it's workable. IIRC, it's about a 40% penalty. While a bardiche will be an absolute nightmare, a demon trident will be no sweat. A bow might make a lot more sense however. High elves have a +3 aptitude. You could keep it low and use a shortbow to stretch your mp, or find the book of spatial translocations and portal arrows from behind a wall of summons and train up a longbow.

If you are four squares away now you might as well be on the other side of the dungeon. If I can get Darkness will my LOS drop to 2?

Fitzy Fitz posted:

Deep Elfses are excellent enchanters.New players should shy away from Chei, playing Chei doesn't teach you anything except how to play Chei. Dith will double 50% of your hex casts, Hep with the hexer is outstanding but your hp will suck.

If you want an easy start, go MiFi with a war axe, manual skills, turn on fighting, *axe, dodging, armor. Take Mahk or Uksa as a god and forget you have them. All stat ups into STR, get the heaviest armour and biggest axe you can find, toss the shield soon as you find a battleaxe or better. Clear D1-D11 then go to Lair. Clear D12 if you haven't found a battleaxe. If you can't find a flaming axe for hydrae, grab a good enchanted flail or dire flail, you should get plenty from wights.

If you are going mage, DEFE is a way easier start than Wz. Wz is all over the place and has no depth, you will have to count on Vehumet or great luck. Wz is really more a start for melees who want meph and blink and rmsl. DEFE has the damage to clear orc plus conjure flame which just about guarantees you are controlling most encounters. Just turn on SC, Conj, and Fire magic, go vehumet, that will get you through Lair, branch into Earth or Ice eventually for fire resistant baddies, take battlesphere if it comes up.

Also a question: I have Statue Form on a Ds with Claws but Oka just gave me this:
code:
the +12 crystal plate armour of Honour {rC+ Int+3 Dex+4 Slay+6}.
Statform is insane but so is that plate and I have a manual of armour. Should I wear that armour and forget statform? Go chei and have both?

Definitely don't go chei for that, armor doesn't mean much if you're playing statue form anyways.

I would use the armor and drop statue form, but ymmv.

Just lost a promising ant-man that was gifted an early electric executioner's axe and had the shield of the gong and four positive mutations and bunch of other good arts to a goddam hydra in the Lair.

Tried to tank through it and it still hosed me up. Crawlers take heed: it's not worth it. Just swallow your pride and switch to some lovely fire-branded hand axe or mace or something.
