I'm not sure if this is a bug or something else, or even how long it's been going on, but with my characters on JC, if I choose to report someone, I have the options of picking spam, harassment, name, or real life/suicide threat. With my characters on Harbinger, I only have the option to report spam. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

The galactic command mechanic that replaced it is even more terrible though. Pretty much means you will be undergeared for top level content unless you grind wayyyy too much. Trying to solo eternal tournament / fortresses takes about 3 times as long for me now.

Set bonus is the only thing missing, really, but I just kept the 220 armorings from my old gear.

Yeah, but you have to grind up all the crafting stuff before you can put together a complete set for yourself. Sure it's a lot faster than GC, but unless you get it off the market you are looking at two weeks grind at least. Obviously if you already have all the skills at 550 then it's not that big of a deal. And either way you are going to be geared worse for the same content than you were pre-5.0, since the 228 gear isn't equivalent to what you could get for comms before. And the only new thing to do is the uprisings/KOTET (I guess you can replay KOTFE too, but if you have one alt for each story then that was more than enough to get your fill of the expansion even before) e: Strudel Man posted:What even is that. Pretty much forevergrind, you get a tiny amount of special 'Command XP' that basically functions as comms/crystals did before, except it's many times slower and the gear you get is random. There's a levelling mechanic too (with XP requirements going up of course, and no you don't earn it any faster) and the best gear is gated behind literally a year-long grind of frequent playing (and on a single char at that) which is pretty hilarious. They'll probably up the rates at some point, but as it stands now it's unbelievably grindy. Private Speech fucked around with this message at 02:49 on Dec 11, 2016 |

Comm gear was terrible and always was. 220 Radiant comm gear was non optimized, almost always heavy endurance and low stats. It was even worse before, remember tank pieces always had accuracy on them? The 228 gear is learned by reverse engineering vendor schematics and doesn't require any rare mats you don't get from missions, and it's optimized (unlettered mods). I've made full sets for 3 of my characters and my Tank is better optimized than he's been since TNG was raiding Hard Mode. I think the highest tier now is 244 so 228 is more than enough unless you're doing Nightmare Raiding.

I admit I haven't actually grinded up the crafting to the new limits myself, mostly was just annoyed that I can't run the same things I used to be able to. I know that the comms gear wasn't ideal, but you could get that and combine the mods with the pvp sets and a few bought mods to get non-raid gear capable of anything but HM raids. That took only a few weeks to do, I mean I've done it in 3 weeks on two alts. I guess I'm just annoyed that all my gear is useless now, except for the sets perhaps. e: I think I'm coming from much more casual perspective than you, but to me it seemed a lot easier back before 5.0. I don't want to grind up crafting skills/mats but without it I can't do the same content I used to be able to. Maybe it's a way to sidestep the GC system and I guess you don't need to get all the skills, just the ones for whatever role you need, but, I dunno. It doesn't make me want to go out and do all this just so I can solo eternal tournament/do heroic fortresses without taking forever again. Galactic Command is so bad, I simply cannot understand how they thought it was a good idea. It takes too long to be rewarded with a chance of getting gear, which may or may not even be a piece you need. The comparison had been made before, and I think it's a valid one, to Battlemaster bags. Remember how bad those were for gearing in PVP? They tweaked that system a number of times before getting rid of it, and now they're taking a very similar system and basing the entire endgame gearing process on it. I just can't bring myself to do anything in the game anymore because the system is just so unrewarding.

It's the sort of thing that would have been great as a supplement to dropped gear and commendation gear, a nice bonus you'd get along the that would help smooth other sources of RNG out and give some bonuses for doing stuff. But then they remove drops and commendations. So yeah I got no idea.

That took only a few weeks to do, I mean I've done it in 3 weeks on two alts. Yeah I'm actually coming at it from a very casual perspective. I am 100% in agreement that GC is terrible, but with crafting being as good as it is, it's actually easier to play for casuals. With KOTFE you couldn't craft anywhere near even lovely comm gear (and it was terrible, trust me). They added a few options later on where you could craft gear very close to raid gear, but it was unmoddable, had no set bonus, and required mats from conquest. Now, a Cybertech can make 228 mods, enhancements and earpieces that are optimal stats so you just need to log on and run missions to build up mats. The only catch is that they all require slicing purple mats, but that's easy enough to acquire if you have a few alts. GC and raids drop random 230 schematics at tier 1 but I just disintegrate those since they're just a few points higher than the 228 ones. I'm pretty happy overall that I can pretty much ignore Galactic Command unless I really want to focus on Hard Mode raiding, and I just don't. My stats on my main characters are much better a week after launch than most of them were 6 months after KOTFE.

On reflection I'm more upset about the old solo content being scaled up rather than using the existing level-scaling mechanism. And PVP needing much more grind maybe. I understand they had to add reasons to get the new gear, but I dunno, they could've just done that for uprisings/HM FPs/Ops/veteran mode campaigns. I'll probably come back to the game eventually, I'm burned out from the DvL event anyway (and they could've kept achievements for DvL too. I've gotten relatively far into legendary, I mean I knew I wasn't going to do it all but I enjoyed doing as much as I reasonably could, and that all went away. My completely pointless achievements!). I'll agree on PvP for sure. Removing expertise means I can't demolish raiders that are popping into PvP to do their Pierce missions. Right now it seems that PvP matches are way too long, people have too many hit points. I did about five matches last night and I think I only died in two of them.

I've tried characters on Harbinger, JC, and Shadowlands...I'm afk'ing and getting logged before I get queue pops trying to lvl through PvP so I don't have to do endless waves of Skytroopers. Even at 70 I'm waiting 10-15 minutes for queues that were instant a year ago. Not a good look two weeks after an expansion. The official forums are full of white knights but I really do think GC is killing the game.

I'm not really going to pay them 15 a month so I can grind out random bags of random items that will help me do nothing really I can think of that'd I'd even be doing. I figure they want me to treat it like a Dragon Age expansion, 15 bucks for story and then go away. I know that's not what they want at all, but that's how I see it.

Like, the reward for finishing PvP weekly is now 20 Command XP. No need to grind for WZ comms anymore, so who cares if I do the weekly. Might feel like hopping on and running a match or two - I really like that the PvP rewards are more for just PvPing instead of relying on weekly/dailies. That does make it tough for people that want to do serious MMORPG stuff, but I think we're at the point where everyone knows we're never getting back to that.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was absolutely anything new or worthwhile to apply that gear to. What am I spending hours gearing up for? That and Jesus there are 300 levels. After a night of grinding at PvP I had hardly made it to 9. I almost wish they'd regularly release small new story packs on the scale of some of the planetary missions or something. I think I might finish playing the Smuggler and Consular stories and then take a break again unless they announce something new soon. Or if someone wants to start doing group PvP or raids.
