using dit and dah is actually an amateur radio thing and not that weird, even if it sounds hella stupid Absolutely nothing about that graphic/"visual guide" makes any sense though. like, yes, i'm definitely going to remember that | : is morse code for D because you arranged them in a way that looks nothing like a D, obviously

I'm pretty sure every single one of those morse code charts comes from someone seeing the mnemonic for A, thinking a mnemonic chart is a cool idea, and then never rethinking that even when it's obvious that the rest of them are nowhere near as good.

It's also that this is the worst way to learn Morse, you need to associate the sound with the letter in your head. Visual components should not play a role in it.
