There's like an extra set of tires on the back of the trailer, and one of those is what appears to blow out, but why? Was it just so hosed that all it needed was to roll backwards a little bit and el-kablammo? the 3rd wheel from the back seems to be jammed. it looks deformed a bit. normally those wheels aren't rolling on the freeway, so i think they are spares unless the load is extra heavy and then they come into contact with the road? So i think this trailer had a load heavy enough that that wheel should be in contact with the road bearing some weight and that wheel stuck for a loving while and it finally blew at this moment of all moments and shockwaved ice and snow off the tollbooth plaza for a fun show. I'm still awaiting the OSHA thread report for an executive synopsis - so please bear with me

KoRMaK posted:...that panic i feel drivin next to an 18 wheeler on the turnpike its called a lift axle, basically the suspension on that axle is pneumatic, and inflating/deflating the shock absorbers is what determines whether the wheels are in contact with the road you do this when the trailer/truck is extra heavy, to better distribute weight. when you dont need to support all that weight, having too many wheels on the road reduces traction, + no point wearing out tyres you dont need to use. this has nothing to do with why it blew, though. looks like it was just jammed.

Radio Paranoia posted:didn't he send that kid to food school? i think that was a different one my favourite episode is the one with the daddy's girl running a vegeterian cafe in paris, it had everything - an insane chef that gordon had to physically carry out of the kitchen, an owner who just couldn't be bothered, a waitress who didn't want to come to work because her cat had just had kittens, withering contempt for vegetarians, and the two sweetest moments in any of the shows - the first was the bit where gordon opens the cafe at lunchtime (the owner had said it wasn't worth it and didn't even bother coming in) and runs the whole place himself. the guy was already a millionaire and had a couple of michelin stars under his belt but i don't think i've ever seen anyone as content with life as he was then, knocking out cheese on toast and tomato soup in a little cafe in paris. the second was when the owner's dad (who owns a couple of restaurants in scotland and is big mates with ramsay's dad, although that was never mentioned) found her a replacement chef who actually had some talent and gave a gently caress - she was only 19 and willing to relocate to paris to work in a dingy little cafe just for the experience - and the owner just decided she couldn't be bothered any more and went off to become an escort (again that last bit wasn't actually mentioned) and gordon gave the chef a job at one of his places immediately (and she's apparently on her way to a michelin star of her own now). in summary Radio Paranoia posted:basically gordon ramsay owns

I worked on truck tires most of my young life, and yeah. . . loving with truck tires is no joke. Most the log truckers I knew that were doing 60-65 mile routes from the woods to the mill rode the most beat of loving trucks and nothing but retreads, retreads don't scare me as much as lock rims. I saw someone slipping on a job and didn't put a lock rim in the tire cage, it was an older rustier one, and it blew out. Luckily for the guy he was out of the way as the lock flew (keep in mind these are 45-55lbs circles or iron/steel) took out a 55gallon steel barrel we used as a trash can and knocked out a chunk of a cinderblock wall before spinning on the ground like a dropped quarter.
