The snow tires are, in terms of PI, the same as rally tires. In fact they replace rally tires automatically. (You can't actually use rally tires on the expansion map).

And you'll need them against the AI. And an AWD vehicle. RWD vs AWD is pretty goddamn unbalanced on the new surfaces.

Atmus, I know this is old news, but my launch XBone stopped reading discs reliably just before it was a year old. I've been buying digital ever since because I don't want to pay to have it fixed (they turned me down when I asked them to fix it about two weeks outside of warranty, even though I'd reported the problem six weeks before.)

One thing that can bring it back to life for a time is going to your apps under settings. Uninstall the BluRay app, reboot, and reinstall it.It's worked for me before.

I'll give it a shot, but I don't think that the disc is actually involved, unless FH3 keeps validating it for some reason and other games don't. The disc drive problem is more of a thing where it doesn't want to load it all the way. I can usually get it to take it by cramming another disc in there and hitting the eject button a few times. It eventually works but it reminds me too much of GutBomb's sex life so like the women in his life, I don't want to do it too much.

Looking on the official forums, it seems like my issue is either hard drive, network, or Forzathon reporting related, but that's all speculation.

I never played any of the the Forza Games and have a couple of questions for you Forza Goons before I consider buying Forza Horizon 3. Understanding the concept of the FH3 product and DLC systematic in the MS Store is like :psyduck:
So please excuse if some of the questions seem to have obvious answers for the Forza veterans, I just want to have it clear

1.) Generally: If I liked Need for Speed Hot Pursuit + Rivals and loved Test Drive 2 Unlimited (The open world is great, the cars are great, the motor sounds in this game were audigasm ear porn and are still unmatched imho, especially the Pagani Zonda for example), I like Project Cars as well, Assetto Corsa is so-so....
My question: What of the mentioned games is most similiar to Forza Horizon 3? If TDU2 is smiliar I may be already sold on FH3.
2.) The Ultimate edition just "only" gets more cars and some online perks for 40 dollars on top?
3.) Is the ultimate edition worth it if I don't bother online gaming/competition at all and only want to play offline vs AI?
In other words, is the pricetag of 99$ - because of the additional cars - still worth it and the UE is a "must buy" if my goal is playing and driving with as many different cars (and tracks) offline vs AI as possible
4.) Buying the Ultimate edition now means I have the Car Pass included and get all cars from Oct + Nov unlocked as well?
5.) Buying at the MS Store gives me the 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R, but I cannot get the Amazon pre Order retailer bonus car Mercedes-Benz E63 S Coupe? Or are there ways to unlock this?
6.) Can I upgrade my cars in Need for Speed Underground style (look, handling and performance)?
7.) The Ultimate Bundle does include the Motorsport All-Stars Car pack, but it does NOT include any of the other 3 Car Packs? (Smoking Tire, Logitech G , Alpine Stars)
8.) The Ultimate Bundle does not include the Treasure Map?
9.) The Ultimate Bundle does not include the different Car horn sounds?
10.) If 7-9 are "yes", the whole Forza Horizon 3 experience would mean: UE 99$ + Season Pass 35 $ + (Alpine+Logitech+Smokin Tire) Car Packs 21 $ + horn sounds 3 $ + Treasure Map 3 $ = about 160$ ? :wth:

Ultimate includes the season pass which means it includes the smoking tire, logitech g, and alpinestars, and 3 more monthly packs which haven't been released yet so cut $56 out of that price there. The only things not included are the pre-order cars which always end up getting released as a pack down the road, the horns, and the treasure map.

OK so

1. It's probably closest to tdu2. Big world. Friendly atmosphere. Much better driving.

234789. Edit. I was thinking of that bad midpoint version. Dumb. Go with the answer above..

5. No idea.

6. You have far more control over modding vinyls and decals in fh3 than in old nfs games, to the point that a talented user of the system can just turn out incredible paintings. If you liked a particular paint job from a real race car or a movie car you'll be able to recreate it, no questions. The trade off is that there aren't extensive body kit options. Lots of rims and stuff though.

Or am I completely wrong here?

Edit, I just found this:
"Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition includes the full game of Forza Horizon 3, Early Access, the Forza Horizon 3 Car Pass, VIP Membership and cars, Forza Hub App, and the Motorsport All-Stars Car Pack, which gives you the chance to take 10 of the hottest modern race cars off the track and out on the open road!"

I'm at 8,500 reward points on Bing right now and $5 windows store codes are 3,500 points, $10 for 7,000. Season pass for $15? Yes please. Golly

I have played over 200 hours of TDU2 and I don't know how many hours in various NFS games. Hoarding and upgrading a ton of cars is what Forza Horizon 3 is all about. Racing too, if you also like that. The actual driving is quite a lot better than TDU2.

There are two "season" passes, none of which are called season passes. There's the Car Pass, which is included in the Ultimate Edition, and which gives you six monthly car packs that you would otherwise buy separately each month. And then there's the Expansion Pass, which isn't included in the Ultimate Edition, and which gives you two game expansions, one of which was released this week (Blizzard Mountain). No details have been revealed about the second expansion. The Ultimate Edition gives you $10 off the Expansion Pass.

The Ultimate Edition doesn't give you access to the online, multiplayer parts of the game. You need a monthly Xbox Live subscription for that.

One of the main benefits of the Ultimate Edition is the VIP status. You get more game money when you level up, and if owning a whole lot of cars is your thing, then more money will come in pretty handy.

I agree that the Windows Store and the bundling is pretty dense and really not very customer friendly. And I also have no idea about the few store-specific cars you can get through either the Windows Store or Amazon and other places, and if they're possible to unlock by other means.

As for the game itself, there's performance upgrades available for almost all cars, usually with engine swaps, so you can put a hilariously overpowered engine in a Reliant and turn it into a speed monster with no grip if that's you thing, or you can just make it go a little faster and handle a little better if you prefer. Cosmetic upgrades like bodykits and skirts and headlights are available for some cars, but far from all. Paints are available that cater to all sorts of sordid tastes you might have.

Season pass and car pass are the same thing. I think the official name is car pass. It includes the first six monthly car packs. The car pass is included in the ultimate edition.

The expansion pass is new and is the same thing for expansions (which are new areas/modes)

As someone who enjoyed TDU2, I do wholeheartedly recommend this game. Ubisoft's The Crew has more options for aftermarket bodymods (and turning cars into monster trucks), but FH3 is an embarrassment of riches where car choice itself is concerned. There's everything from a hearse, the Mad Max v8 Interceptor (1974 Ford Falcon XT, there's even interceptor/MFP liveries, see below), there are ATVs, the Reliant Robin (the 3-wheeler below, with the 80s British sitcom livery I did), the Gurkha, the Halo Warthog, rally legends like the Lancia Stradale, a Rolls Royce, the most awesome 80s supercar ever (Lamborghini Countach), more classic muscle cars than you could shake a Vin Diesel at and oh so much more.

There are probably only 2 expansions planned going by past forza games. FH2 had Storm Island/Porsche. F6 had Porsche/Nascar. The MO for Forza games the past few years has been monthly car packs until the next Forza game releases (12), of which 6 ate covered by a car pass and then 2 expansion packs.

Ok I've changed my mind. The only proper way to enjoy the snow is in some lovely AWD C-class car with stock tires. As long as you got AWD the snow is manageable.

Also lol the Abatti truck is loving worthless in snow. I was trying to do races where I literally couldn't go up hills (850 hp RWD :eyepop:). But then converting it to AWD makes putting it into a class impossible. Typical Forza problems, in other words.

edit: Forza really needs something like custom restrictor plates so you can cut horsepower however much you want.

A configurable rev limiter would also be an effective performance limit on a lot of the high-strung engines.

I decided to test Rally tyres.

All setups use rally suspension, racing gears, racing brakes, etc.
I used 4 setups:

Rally tyres + power
Pretty good, quite controllable.

Street tyres + wider tyres + power + more power
While I DID get a quicker laptime, it took significantly more attempts for a clean lap. Most of the time it was uncontrollable.

Street tyres + full weight reduction + rest of PI into power
This gave MUCH better laptimes, and was consistent, too.

Rally tyres + full weight reduction + rest of PI into power
While it had rally tyres, it struggled to break traction so the rally tyres seemed to be wasted, and was slower than the rest.

It seems street tyres + full weight reduction is good for bringing C class upto A class. Of course different tracks/cars/driving styles means a lot, too.

I also used no cage vs full cage, and the car didn't seem to handle any better but the extra 100lbs did make the car noticeably slower on the straights.

The thing is, restrictor plates are already in the game! There's that one engine that uses them.

Unrelated but the while PI system is broke. If you swap an engine in that has TWICE the power, but revs half as much, your PI's Speed goes down :v: It seems it's Speed rating is tied to your max RPM rating. Adding a turbo to increase power won't raise it, but adding cams that increase rpm limit will, for eg.

It might be taking into account the transmission gear ratios. Dropping horsepower into a car won't matter if it's hitting the rev limiter, but I think an engine swap comes with a new transmission (and different ratios).

So, I bought FM6 after having bought FH3 a while ago. Pretty good game, but it seems like the FM6 AI in every race is attempting to do the PIT maneuver on me. After having played FH3 for some hours, I could not care less about the ~130 Euro spent. This game has a bit of everything, be it form the original and old school Need for Speed for 3DO, from BurnOut Paradise, Test Drive 2 Unlimited or the latest Need for Speed Series. And luckily FH3 combines the best parts of these mentioned racing games. :yayclod:
On top of that, this game runs perfectly smooth with an unexpected corridor of 60-80 fps on my 27" Monitor with 2560*1440 on Ultra preset with MSAA*4 (6700K + 980Ti).
I read about fps drops and technical problems but maybe this was fixed? It is the "perk" for playing a game some weeks after launch later I guess.

Sadly, Reshade Hook/Injection is blocked.

I now "get" the Metacritic of 91, one of the best Arcade Racing Games so far for me.

How long will take the campaign to be completed? After that it is freeroam and race events and festivals SP and MP or are there still SP "missions"?

1 - Load up Forza Horizon 3 and get to the "Buy Now" screen you are stuck at.
2 - Use the Xbox Guide button to go back to the dash and open up the Forza Hub App. Please don't shut the game down
3 - Open up the Blizzard Mountain is Here! Story on the Forza Hub App.
4 - Press the black "Play Now" button on the first page of the story and then press continue when prompted
5 - Go back to the game and you should now be able to back out of the "Buy Now" screen
