Lol when did he do that?

Embarrassingly enough I was sort of enthusiastic about O'Malley for a bit this cycle as an alternate to Clinton. This was before Sanders became credible.

Would anyone actually be interested in getting together for a few drinks and making fun of Clinton/grousing about stupid local dems?

i'm in

also

if people wanna get involved in politics in MA there's a lot to do. start with pressuring your electeds to stand up to deleo. he's making himself speaker-for-life basically and is on the road to become finneran 3.0 (dimasi being 2.0). he already quashed a revolt from the senate which is a much more progressive body.

the state house is the farm team for the congressional delegation. one reason our bench is so shallow is that that artery has hardened and calcified with the old guard sitting firmly on top and making it impossible for young progressives to advance and get name recognition. they control who goes up when a space opens up in the delegation, except in outsider cases like moulton. deleo is somewhere to the right of clinton.

meanwhile there are great progressives in the MA house and senate like sannicandro and eldridge who should be developing a higher profile so they can run at the federal level. stan rosenberg is kind of a shithead but the senate is farther left than the house. you go to politics with the army you've got.

when a democratic machine runs things you still have to face the same set of challenges: make space for progressive ideas and punish politicians who stand in their way.

iirc it was a sanders guy and some weirdos that voted for colin powell as raising awareness for the republicans and how they shouldnt be afraid to stand up against the vicious trump. the republicans, naturally, just laughed and voted for trump anyways.

It's absolutely horrifying that the Democrats tried pushing for all the electors not to vote for the president elect, due not to them not winning the popular vote, but because they were seen as "unfit" and "wild". That sets a dangerous precedent.
