Holy poo poo. I was about to post that, having looked at everything on the steam page, it didn't seem to be porn and seemed to be a legit platformer with some anthro characters...

Yep, it's porn.

Oh yeah, forgot I'd seen True Grit somehow. Love that movie for simply being a real solid Western. Well, I'm at my mom's place in rural PEI over Christmas with a Netflix box and not much to do so maybe I'll catch up on some filims.

Is there any part of PEI that isn't rural? Every time we drive over there it's like "Well, we're in Cavendish, where all the Anne of Green Gables tourist trap stuff lives," and the further you drive away from there, the more it seems like "Here there be absolutely beautiful nature"

I got better at the QTEs for Until Dawn and got all the trophies and I'm maybe waiting for my brother to come over to play FFXV, but probably sometime tomorrow I will just break down and play it for 100 hours.

So I took a quick look at that link and found this on the same blog:

quote:

Many months of work to go until there’s a nice clean version of Anubis and the Buried Bone ready for Steam!

Non-Steam friendly version will be done afterwards.
So the Steam version is going to be 100% clean. The dev evidently plans on releasing a separate version with... that.

So if you can deal with knowing about the existence of that other version, you can still enjoy the Steam one for its gameplay.

Do you feel it, Zach?
My coffee warned me about it.

Going back to Coen brothers - everything from them except for a couple of movies is worth watching. Blood Simple and Miller's Crossing are both slower noir dramas but they're amazing to watch on a cold evening under a blanket. If somebody liked A Serious Man then I recommend The Man That Wasn't There as they both have similar atmosphere. Intolerable Cruelty is loving great despite the fact that the posters make it look like it's a romantic comedy (it's not, it's a hilarious often dark comedy in the vein of Burn After Reading). No Country For Old Men is imo their best film but honestly it's pretty crowded at the top as they've made so much good stuff.

Well, that aligns with the vibes I was getting. Which was, like, "normal" kinda vibes.
Such a shame that Anubis game is furry porn. I don't care that they clean it up for Steam, it's still got a title that's winking and nudging me to remind me about dog dicks. I wasn't bowled over by the trailer either but more games like La Mulana is good for everyone.

I played more Hyper Light Drifter last night and I like it so much it's giving me anxiety. It's a gorgeous blend of Zelda: LttP and Fez, and it's the Fex parts that are tripping me up. Too many areas that seem like they should lead somewhere but don't. Too many collectables just out of reach and with no discernible ways to reach them. Too many monoliths with writing on them in a language I have the desire to understand but not the inclination to translate. I've noticed the little marking that designates a nearby secret, but I've also come through at least one area where I know I had lowered a barrier and found access to a new area, but when I returned to torn, turned the game off, and returned later, the path was closed. Even that wouldn't be a huge bother if the map was just a little more helpful. I appreciate abstraction but trying to plot a course from A to B is nearly impossible with the stylish map provided. I'm also regretting not making my own map or taking detailed notes on areas I need to return to with keys or new abilities.

This seems like a game that wants me to return and explore again once I've mostly beaten it. We'll see how that sounds once I'm closer to the finish line.

No Country For Old Men is one of my least favorite films, ever. I detest that movie.

Not because it's a bad film, it's one of the best acted, best directed, best whatever things I would have seen when it came out. But it made me feel so miserable, like literally I felt unhealthy emotionally/mentally for days afterwards, that I abhor the very fact that it exists. It put me in a bad place at a bad time in my life and I will forever hate it for that.

Yeah, I've only seen Sicario and Arrival, and from what I've gathered, Arrival is his most positive film. And it really is a positive film. But... yeah.

Looking forward, if very apprehensive, to see what he does with Blade Runner '49
