It was a directionless self-aware vigilante superhero kind of thing but still head and shoulders above normal student newspaper stuff. Bizarrely the same university also had the other best student newspaper cartoon at the time, Space Moose.

On the EC front, there were two faithless Republican electors in Texas: one voted for Ron Paul and the other for John Kasich. Three of the Washington electors were "Hamiltonian electors" trying to convince Republicans to join them in nominating Colin Powell. (Clearly, it didn't work.) The fourth voted for Faith Spotted Eagle as a protest about how the government treats Native Americans or something. There were three additional Bernie electors who were either replaced or ended up voting for Hillary, and a fourth one in Hawaii that did vote for Bernie Sanders. ![]()

Xenoveritas posted:There's been plenty of stuff on this. Trump was not an unstoppable juggernaut. His own party hates him, and although they're mostly playing nice right now, Trump (or Trump supporters, I'm a bit unclear on what the line is) have stated that they want to "destroy Paul Ryan" which isn't the best sign of party unity. The Republican party is in real bad shape - which would matter if the Democratic party wasn't in even worse shape. quote:What part of the platform? The only part of the platform I'm aware of that Hillary picked up was "free college" and I only know that because Trump attacked her on it! Every single pro-Hillary bit of messaging I saw was centered on attacking Trump and not building her up or pushing her policies. Everything was focused on how evil Trump was. Granted I live in Massachusetts, but thanks to the proximity to New Hampshire and the fact that Boston TV stations cover most of southern New Hampshire, I "got" to see a fair number of campaign ads. If she adopted a majority of Bernie's plans, her messaging about that fact was terrible.
