He's going to get drafted higher than Derrick Henry did and the team that drafts him will actually play him, unlike Derrick Henry.

I think Derrick Henry only fell because there's a stigma about Alabama RBs. He's looked good this year, but I wouldn't blame teams for not wanting another Trent Richardson or T.J. Yeldon.

Henry fell because Michigan State's d-line made him look like a chump. People were afraid that he couldn't deal with contact behind the line of scrimmage at all which rightfully set off alarms considering past Alabama RB history.

Bama's biggest problem is that Saban is too good at recruiting and fills his o-line with behemoths every year. Their offense isn't complex at all either. Just a ton of hammering run plays mixed in with a WCO. It makes it hard for the Bama backs to translate to the NFL because they're asked to do a lot more in pass protection, catching passes, and dealing with being met in the backfield. I think T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry are very similar players and look what's happening to Yeldon.

Fournette wasn't second best that year either though

I dunno man. I just don't see it with Fournette. He's strong, but not that strong, and doesn't have the breakaway speed of some other upright running backs. It all depends on your team a lot in the NFL but I don't think he's the earth shattering prospect a lot of people seem to.

If your quality check for guys you want to draft is "looked good against Bama" then you end up drafting Johnny Manziel.

also, Fournette sucked against Florida which is the other legit defense he played against. And Mike Evans looked good vs Bama and now looks good in the pros! So did Zeke! (and cardale woops)

They were pretty legit the last couple of years too and he was pretty good. I tend to blame the ankle for pretty much everything that happened this year, if that'll be an ongoing issue there's a problem. If not, he's pretty awesome. But who knows, maybe Raku is right about a rival player being bad.

Again I'm not saying you should draft him, but he's amazing as hell as a prospect.

e: Part of this is my amazement that he did anything when he was like Troy Davis at Iowa State 'they're going to loving hand off to #7' while Les Miles was running that terrible offense.

He wasn't supposed to play against Florida due to injury, but he got mad at them and the coaches in a unsurprising move leveraged his future at the chance of winning and let him play.

Fournette's had (non-serious long term as far as I know) ankle issues all year and is the most talented back since Peterson to come out of college, so I guess him right now? The only reason he wouldn't go top 5 based on talent is the theory that RBs are fungible or if the ankle scares people.

Cook screams the type of runner that you'll never see leave the NFL. Just a very good one cut runner who has some nifty moves in the open field. Foreman is kinda like him too and will probably get a ton more tread his rookie year since he took pretty much every snap out of the shotgun in Texas's offense.

Also you guys are insane if you think Fournette is either going to be bad or horribly outplayed by anyone else in this draft. Dude's a four tool RB with some amazing burst and plays the type of upright smart running game you see from David Johnson, Leveon Bell, or Matt Forte.

It's more a comment on their ability and style.

Upright or not, how many NFL players could take on Adrian Peterson?

It's only a concern when you're clearly not good enough to get away with it in the NFL.

As Fiz said it's more a comment on style. When you're amazing at it, like Adrian Peterson, you become an elite threat. It allows you to deliver better stiff arms, square up against tacklers, and just plain makes you a big, hard to tackle back. If you're bad at it, like Rashard Mendenhall or Mikel Leshoure, then you become an injury prone 3 yard rusher that gets stood up every time he takes contact.

Fournette won the Louisiana 4A 100m and 200m titles in his senior year of high school. He's pretty fast for a 225 pound guy.

He picked up a high ankle sprain before the season started and it never healed fully. He was fatter and slower and didn't practice that much this year so it's hard to read too much into any of it.

Last year against Florida he had 180 yards on 31 carries, and 2 TDs.

If the Titans get in the playoffs I really think Henry will be utilized more, especially wearing teams down in the second half. Ideally I would like to see him get 10-15 touches a game, or at least give him a couple drives.

Henry is 13th in the YPC list. Guys around him: Jaquizz Rodgers at 15; Matt Jones at 9. Bills Powell way up at 1; Mark Ingram at 3.

And those are just the guys that have similarly limited number of carries, whether due to injury or just not being the premiere back on their team.

It ain't bad, but it's not exactly lighting the world on fire either.
