Can someone PLEASE make an up-to-date dev-time bar graph, with Star Citizen showing its correct development time, since the Lumberyard engine refactor. Those old graphs are misleading, as they show SC dev time in years.

I legit haven't followed Star Citizen for months because I knew if anything important happened I'd hear about it. It did, and I did.

Best way to keep backers, lie to them for an entire year, and hold a ship sale. Seems reasonable.

T'was the day before Christmas, when all through the 'verse, Not a paid shill was typing; not even to curse. The fluff posts were ready to publish and share, In hopes that St Chris would release something rare! The poo poo'zens were nestled safe in their subreds, While visions of Idrises danced in their heads, And Derek in Twitter and I in Discord, Had finished recapping another years' fraud. When out from the thread there arose such a chatter; Tabbed over from Redtube to ask what's the matter. Away to the Reddit I flew like a flash, To find all the suckers there pledging more cash! Illusions of progress had started to slow, And it looked like next year they had nowhere to go... When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But the engine replaced, pushing dev time back years! 'Twas the night before Paarpmas, and all through the 'Verse, Not a backer was pledging, for it just got worse Delusions were posted on Reddit with care, In hopes that St. Christopher soon would be there; Citizens were nestled all snug in their beds, While autism chariots danced in their heads Titanic with her iceberg, and I with by bunnes, Had just finished a season of Friends reruns When out of the blue there came a new Tweet, I sprang from the chair to the Warlord's drumbeat Away to the forums I flew like a flash, I refreshed the thread and stroked my moustache The goons were elated, while MoMA was stunned, Chris Roberts had finally run out of funds When, what to my wondering eyes do I see, The Warlord himself is now claiming a V A "washed-up developer", so salty and tart, I knew in a moment it must be D_Smart. More wordy than EULAs his topics they came He tweeted, and posted, and blogged them by name: "Now! Archer, now! Legal, now! Lesnick and Lando, "On! Sandi, on! Zendesk, you're snowflakes, commandos! "To the federal building! To the town city hall! "Now litigate! Litigate! Litigate all!" As interns that 'fore the bankruptcy will flee, When parted with paycheck, sans college degree; So up to the jailhouse the p'licemen they flew, With the car full of staff - and St. Christopher too: And then in a minute, I heard in the thread The anger of backers was fin'lly widespread As I refreshed the thread, and was getting right sauced A new blog from D_Smart, so smug and aroused He typed in all caps, was having a cow His sources were leaking: "Apocolypse, Now!" A bundle of links were slapp'd right at the end, His first July blog post, "Read it!" he contends His eyes - how they twinkled! His hairline, how thinning, Old Greybeard had won; on his chair he sat spinning His poo poo-eating grin displayed a bright glow, And his message was thus: "loving told you so!" "They switched the game's engine", he wrote with a curse. "There is always more, and it is always worse!" The crossed arms of colbert he showed with an air He cackled with glee, and leaned back in his chair His post had that rhythm, that rhyme, and that station "Forty-two is eighty-sixed, sweet vindication!" But I saw him exclaim, when this fire he set alight "Happy Paarpmas to all, and to all a good night!"

With the way Chris Roberts and CIG continually misuse 'refactoring', it made me wonder about the publication date of Fowler's book on refactoring. It was published in 1999.

All I can think of when someone says "lumberyard": So many thoughts. The first question I'd want to ask--"Hey Jeff B, how much you in for commando?" Jeff being a superfan would be just awesome! There are so, so many synchronicities between the two companies. Amazon Studios makes TV series--The CIG VP of marketing is a perfect fit! Please, please Amazon--do a Star Citizen TV series!! Heck, might be the best way to get Chris and Sandi away from the project and let someone that knows what they are doing try to get SQ42 out the door.

Beer4TheBeerGod posted:Are those prices real? Holy poo poo those prices are real. https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/173901/#Comment_173901 Chris said you can buy this stuff with ingame credits so stop the polemics as someone like YOU who just REFUNDED hurts the business model the most! "My reference to World of Tanks was purely about how I felt the ability for people that don't have 40 hours a week to sink into a game have the opportunity to spend some money to keep up (an early post called this Pay2BeEqual) or drive a sexy tank they don't have 200 hours of game time to earn. I think WoT has some similarities to SC because they are both skill based games so having better equipment may help you but it will NOT guarantee victory - which is very important and similar to real life (I can have a better sports car than you but if you're a better driver you'll probably be able to beat me on a road course). And it is encouraging to me that they are doing well financially as it is a PC game in what I would have considered a niche category, which at first glance is how you could categorize Star Citizen. Its going to cost significant money to make Star Citizen and more money to continue to run it. I would love to see Star Citizen hit a 10 year anniversary like Eve, and knowing that another online PC game is doing well makes me feel confident that SC has the potential for longevity that I think everyone would like to see (which was the context for my comments in the article) . [...] Contributing additional money beyond your initial ship package will be entirely optional and not required to have fun or progression (but if you do short cut once in a while, know that you're money is going to support the development of the game and on-going content!)"

I don't see why an engine change would delay SC at all, porting assets is not a big deal and they have no actual features to port so

Citizen Logic: - CIG needed to switch to lumberjack because the Cryengine modded to Star Engine had serious issues and showstoppers and was limiting progress - CIG won't worry about delays because Lumberjack = modded Cryengine So err....They switch their modded Cryengine to another modded Cryengine because the Cryengine tech in itself was limited and needs refactoring but the other modded Cryengine is basically the same but totally different so...what?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Lumberyard so there have been no games released using lumberyard? cig switched engines to an unproven platform, with features (like gamelift, you know they're gonna use it cause they can't get their multiplayer poo poo sorted out) that haven't been implemented properly in any other game, lmao
