How do the Forces of Nature play in KoW? I saw the megaforce and my middling interest in starting a KoW army amped up to 11. gently caress do they ever look cool as poo poo. Plus I've still got a handful of GW Lizardmen that I could use to augment the Mantic stuff.

Just got my Warpath kickstarter (Enforcer, Forgefather and Veermyn battlegroups with Enforcer vehicle). I'm in Western Australia and it arrived via FedEx with tracking number. So much plastic! Presumably the 3 veermyn doomwheel thingies I added on are coming in another wave.

I got myself KoW Historicals and I'm browsing through it. It's looking really nice, though pretty Eurocentric. I'm building a medieval Arabic army and I can't really find which army list would have the closest resemblance. Before I read the book I had assumed Ottomans would be the closest, but they don't have access to spearmen and archers (also I can't find good-looking Janissary models anywhere). Since the army would be mostly mounted with some infantry supports, it seems my choices are either a) Huns and their armoured horse-archers who can fight in close combat b) Mongols who actually have shock cavalry and more period accurate siege weapons I'd prefer having access to heavy horse archers as well as heavy cavalry, but that doesn't seem possible. Which one would be more suited for my preferences?

There are a few odd omissions from the specialised lists, but if you talk through it with your game group you could put together a custom list. Or possibly just use the base list.

What is the shootiest army in Kings of War? People are doing a KoW campaign thing between xmas and new years, I'm strongly considering making bases to put Imp rear end figures on and rocking up there like Yo it's the Empire.

I think Dwarves are often considered the most able to gunline, between crossbows, rifles, rangers, sharpshooters, flame belchers, cannons, organ guns, and bombards. Plus crossbows, rifles, and the war engines only hit on a 5+, which suits Stormtrooper shooting skills

Just got a package from Mantic with my Warpath pledge. It's... smaller than I expected, considering what I backed. Then again I think the only things that they'll be sending to me in Wave 2 is the Forge Fathers tank, but I'm not sure. Kinda not at all motivated to open it up right now though... will probably just leave it boxed until I decide for certain if I want to eBay it or not.

Still no sign of Warpath for me. The last communication I got from Mantic was at the end of November telling me to expect a shipping notification shortly. So we'll see if that still happens or if a box will just show up in the near future.

I still haven't seen any reports of Canadians getting their packages so I assume they fell into the ocean. So far of the 6 kses I've backed in the last 2 years none of them have fulfilled. Including one where the reward was 'artist draws a picture'. I sure can pick timely KSes!

Anyone who had a GCPS battlegroup in their order apparently won't have theirs yet, because they only just received the sprues and started picking and packing them this week, which is why I don't have mine yet.

GCPS marine (I think) sprues were late, so anyone with them in their order is like wave 1.5, or the end of wave 1 regardless of destination, however you see it

Checked out Warpath on eBay here in Germany just to see what kinda chance it would have. There are 4 listings, all from the first kickstarter, and none of which have been touched in months. Welp, guess I'll just paint 'em. On the plus side I opened up my box and it seems complete, minus the Forge Fathers tank (which is just blacked out on the shipping label).

Alright, got my wave 1 stuff and everything seems to be there. I have no loving idea how the tangle model is supposed to hold together, but it looks really cool. The three rulebooks are nice softcovers with a sleeve to hold them all. I got Forge Fathers and Veer-Myn and the I'm pretty happy with the infantry battlegroups. Tentatively excited about the Dorf tank and the tunnelers.

I've just started putting together my basic troops after painting The Piper. So many arm and head options for these guys. I think there's about 10 heads on a 5 person sprue. A little surprised they didn't stuff the grenade launcher on there, but the chemical thrower looks decently like one, and I can use the wrist mounted ray gun for the thrower. Wish the legs to body fit a bit more snug, but a nice set of options.

Plus I guess they weren't really thinking of Deadzone options (grenade launcher, I'm sure a couple others) when designing the sprue which is a shame. Plus for Veer-myn it doesn't look like you can get the Maligni individually yet (they are part of the Deadzone expansion set). Maybe when the Drill and Monobikers come out...

We were attempting to have a discussion in the Age of Sigmar thread about game mechanics and one of the criticisms of AoS that came up was that you often roll buckets of dice and very little happens. This is both tedious and frustrating. But I was quick to point out that this isn't really a problem unique to AoS and in fact is a valid criticism of Kings of War. There have been times where I've rolled 40 dice to do a few or even no damage. This got me thinking about an "overwhelm" or "minimum damage" rule that could be implemented. I'm imagining it would work something like the below: "If the number of attacks is greater than the defender's (Nerve?) by X amount, then the defender will take a minimum of Y damage. If the attacker scores more than Y damage, use that number instead." Two questions come up. 1) Is the number of attacks counted from before rolling to hit or before rolling for damage? I'd assume before rolling to hit, but I can see what the argument would be for rolling for damage. 2) How do you determine what X and Y are? X could be a flat value or double or treble the nerve and Y could be based on the size of the attacking unit, like Troops doing a minimum of 2, regiments 4, hordes 7, and legions 9. Why people wouldn't be a fan of a rule like this is because it means leaving rough terrain on your flank or rear loses a lot of effectiveness since Hindered Charges could still rack up a lot of damage. It could also be problematic for people facing armies with massed hordes of shooters. Regiments and Troops would become unused since they could almost be routed automatically. Do any other games do minimum damage? Battletech comes to mind, but that's not so much minimum damage as it is a set amount for each weapon.
