I'm thinking of getting this, not into anime at all and i've not played any other titty games, i'm just wanting a fun action game which is not musou because I just don't find those too engaging. Is it fit for this purpose, i.e. is this actually a proper game?

Senran Kagura Burst (3DS) would be the only one of those style games I would even recommend to start with, but both Valkyrie Drive and Senran Kagura are anime as gently caress. It's totally not lesbian schoolgirls fighting while their clothes get knocked off. Charge up a special bar, transform, then unleash special attacks. The enemies fall with little effort outside of the bosses. Then watch the girls get groped or crush on one another.

You'd probably have a better time playing Metal Gear Rising on one TV and pornography on another

Soul Sacrifice Delta is absolutely amazing, and unlike the few MH games I've played, the story is really good. Even the side stores are compelling, and have some insane twists, that really only work in that world, but actually do work. The Werewolf story is the big one that comes to mind.

Sometimes it's not the bomb that's retarded.

Have the turn based Nep games had any notable changes to the combat system over the years? It is still the closest we've got to Dragon Quarter combat?

They've gotten way better over the years. Like, insane amounts of improvement. The more recent couple of games have some of the best turn-based combat I've seen.

They're still way bad and easily outclassed by just about any other modern RPG

I wouldn't say any other modern JRPG (the vita has some truly truly direly poo poo JRPGs) but absolutely nowhere near the best turn-based combat either. They're basically at the point where the gameplay isn't so bad it actively interferes with the goofy anime joke element of the game but not so good I could ever recommend it to someone based on the gameplay.

I wish they were on par with Dragon Quarter because I loved the hell out of the game. :smith:

To be fair though, knocking the clothes of the bosses in Valkyrie Drive is a lot harder to do compared to SK. Most of the time you can end the fights without breaking even the first layer of clothing. Also unlike SK, breaking the clothes actually gives you a tactical advantage via the free synchro stocks earned by it, something that becomes invaluable against the latter half and challenge bosses.

You're also forgetting to mention that VD includes a survival and challenge modes that are pretty useful to avoid falling into a routine. Challenge mode even teach you to play better. Or to mention that there's actually four different levels of transformation, each with access to different attacks.

I'll give you the low difficulty though.

And really, the only way the girls could be any more gayer is to take a page from Mermaid's playbook and be that explicit.

jfc, did they not have enough money to pay the font maker for a full set of punctuation, or was turning it into an unreadable mess part of the design spec

I think they were counting a wee too much on the voice acting for those scenes.

Well I wouldn't say the best, but I kind of like Tsunako's art when there aren't tits everywhere. The music of V-II is also pretty darn good too. Really, V-II is an alright game where if you like Family Guy style humor but with the references being related to anime or video games, you'll probably like it whereas if you don't like that style of humor you'll probably dislike it and if you're just kind of indifferent you'll find an okay game. Not a bad JRPG to play if you're looking for something different but not one of the better JRPGs either.

If nothing else, I admire that Compile Hear do seem to improve from game to game and I think V-II and Fairy Fencer F are the biggest shifts to somewhat okay gameplay. Just a few years ago everyone mocked them for making kusoge but their newer games aren't bad enough to be that anymore. It's refreshing when a lot of other developers right now regress from game to game and each game they make gets worse than the previous.

I'm enjoying it, but it feels like it's going to end up being very repetitive - the scenarios are all mostly similar and nothing really shakes up the combat, so even though it's fun at a basic level, I can see it getting old at some point. I paid £12 for it and feel like that's a reasonable price.

Most classic WRGs had bad combat but really great writing. Neptunia takes the bold stance of combining terrible writing with bad combat and I applaud the devs for being unwavering in their decision to continue making badly written and poorly designed games.

So it turns out that the Vita version of Danganronpa V3 has some pretty low quality voice over audio! Spike Chunsoft has a plan in place to rectify this: make high quality voice overs available as a DLC. Allegedly the Vita's game card can't hold all of the high quality ones and this is their stopgap measure.
