Fantasy settings at least make sense within the confines of their own in-universe logic, but reactionary scifi is doubly retarded because it's speculatively juvenile. Juvenile escapism is fine for the impossibility of a fantasy setting, but if you're dealing within the realm of the possible and the best thing you can think of is a self-aggrandizing power fantasy then it's just insufferable.

The Force is just a massive liability to galactic society. Only a tiny minority of people can even perceive it, let alone wield its powers. So the best case scenario is you have Light Side dominance, where a tiny group of ascetics practice self-improvement and harmony with nature while the rest of society experiences the status quo of galactic mercantilism: war, crime, etc. Or, the Galaxy is ruled by a cult of space Hitlers who can shoot lightning from their fingers, and crush your windpipe through Skype.

do the space hitlers actually care about anyone else other than the jedi and the rebels though? like for a person stuck in galactic merchantilism, would you even notice a difference other than the troops that patrol the streets? other than i guess the planets that get death stared or whatever but the whole thing is like a total loving sideshow to the vast majority of the population

The exception is DS9, which is a neoconservative fantasy. I actually love the poo poo out of DS9. Best Trek series.
