for xmas, a friend surprised me with a Pocket Operator for to make beeps and boops it's pretty fun and surprisingly tiny of course, he has the fancy OP-1 with which he makes much more complicated beeps and boops biggest surprise: it has a debugging port on back, and there's a hacking community around them that teenage engineering encourages post your favorite beep boop instruments or what you do with them (no homegrown)

one time the rich kid who got too many hugs from his parents sat down next to me on th ebus and showed me a program he wrote. it was a loving line going back and forth on the screen of a ti-83. i just looked at him and said, 'ok??' and he very solemnly told me that what he just showed me was actually very difficult to do. he went to another seat to sit by himself and never showed it to anyone else.

i have 2 of these http://www.axoloti.com/ in theory they are super cool but there's a long, steep learning curve. i got two so i could make one into a super wacky instrument, and have a second one for experimentation that i built into a VHS cassette of "city on fire". also i have some korg volcas, they are cool and good

I got a big box of old gameboys back in my very short stint of cleaning them up and sometimes doing sound mods on them. Do people still buy those? I could probably buy another set of audio jacks and maybe the backlight mod if people are still into that poo poo.

I think so. whenever I want to buy one on eBay they are always slightly more money than I want to spend. I think the market is being eroded by gb boy colours though

well, I mean, the DS has several video modes, multiple screens, framebuffers, sprites, backgrounds, transparency, 3D the game boy has one video mode, one background, one "window," sprites, and four colors
