I started to learn Hearts of Iron IV last night in a game where I started as Italy and my 2 friends started as the German Reich and Japan. We stopped right as 1940 started and I own half of Africa, Southern France and the west half of China and despite the world tension being at 100% since we conquered France a World War has yet to begin. I guess I'm into map games now.

Welcome to italian asia. my friends were upset when I took half of china for no reason but look at me now I need to get iran and iraq involved in this war so I can have the biggest name in the world.  My goal is to have a piece of Italy in every continent. 3 down, 3 to go and the other 3 are involved in the current world war so it's only a matter of time.

I'm off Wednesday and Thursday and he'll, I'd love to play HoI 4 MP. The AI in this game is a joke because it's bad at making divisions and also it's kind of retarded and loves to shuffle troops around needlessly

Bar on the left side next to the division's experience that slowly ticks up. With no doctrines or national spirits modifying it, it builds up 2% a day to a 50% attack bonus that fades completely within moving about 4-5 provinces. Units that are in combat or exercising or moving don't build up planning so it's hard to use past the opening days of the war unless you have Mobile Warfare to a high level

And yeah. I've still never reached a peace conference once all the majors join in but you can effectively win the war in like 4 hours at max speed the whole time

I tried staying Democratic as France in SP but holy hell is it hard. Unless you want to cripple your industry (bad tradeoff), before 1939 you really can't get rid of the Victors of the Great War national spirit that cripples your political power. Even turtling with all infantry brigades and heavily fortified borders, you're out of manpower inside a year and relying on the USA to bail you out, and they take their sweet time joining the war. I've never made it to the end of 1943 without capitulating.

I'd be up for a MP of HOI4 but 1) my PC tends to crash while playing it (mostly I think due to hardware and not the game itself) and 2) I'm in UTC+9 so the hours suck donkey balls to do something like a MP game with most people

Also it's kinda weird to get used to HOI compared to CK2 and EU4 where you have a rise and fall of conflict and sabotage/building to more conflict and peacetime recuperation. But in HOI the peaks and valleys are war and More War

In Training posted:How interesting are the non major powers? 99% of them dont have events or focus trees so it can be fun to do stuff like attack Germany and attrition their entire manpower pool away as Switzerland, but for most of them it's really boring. Also for some reason only the majors have any significant resources except for the Middle East and Romania having a bunch of oil

Germany invited all of the axis except me (Romania) to their Soviet war. Is this a bug or do they just not want me? I've spent the last few months desperately trying to hold Italy from the UK but it isn't going well. Especially because I had the army I was trying to use tied to a different front line order for a while and I didn't figure out why all my divisions kept walking back to the Soviet border every time I stopped looking at them until the UK had already taken Rome.
