Dead Cosmonaut posted:Did minorities make a mistake by not showing up to vote for Clinton in key areas such as Detroit, Michigan? No, it was the blacks, definitely. Who on this good green earth else? Oh, right the Hispanics too. It was the Hispanics and the Blacks that elected Trump president. I can't think why your party has so much trouble getting minority votes? That's your voter base, not ours.

Our ire should be focused on the right as long as lessons from internal and external gently caress ups are learned. Bad-av-posting just this once to say gently caress this sentiment. If we don't "overly blame" the people who caused our gently caress-ups, we absolutely will not learn lessons from them, because as this year has demonstrated, the Internet is full of people willing to jump through any number of rhetorical hoops to avoid learning lessons. What exactly is the problem with "friendly fire" in a cycle where we have no power anyway? Stop worrying about the Hastert rule and let's get our poo poo in order. We can get gently caress-all accomplished until we do, so we might as well spend this time making absolutely sure we get real get right or we'll end up with another Obama, or worse, another Clinton.

I don't think they were saying never blame Clinton, they were saying maybe don't make her into the devil herself who personally destroyed the left, because A) that's stupid and B) right now we probably should be focusing on flipping as much as we can and to do that yes we probably are going to have to accept that lovely centrists are better than Republicans in some areas.

Counterpoint - lovely centrists stuck in their lovely centrist bubble just gave the Republicans every branch of government, something the Republicans on their own seemed incapable of doing.

And it's not so much that people are personifying her as the literal devil as it is that they would like the Clinton wing to accept that they massively hosed this whole thing up and currently exactly none of them are doing that.

also it may be good to not devote so much energy to making sure the Clinton supporters sufficiently flagellate themselves because saying things like 'we may get another Obama' is something a large amount of Americans view as not a scary danger situation at all, and that's likely to not change at all as time goes on.

The first two years of Obama's years proved beyond the shadow of doubt that lovely centrists are far worse than Republicans in basically every area.

Putting Mook in the woods gives him a chance of emerging later claiming to know how to win and people will listen to him. I've said it before and I'll say it again: put Mook and podesta on a boat to St. Helena.
