I bought a black crinoline petticoat to go under a couple of full-skirted dresses that I have from Pretty Eccentric and Berutun Designs. It came in a vacuum-pack bag so it went from being in this fairly thin, 8 x 10 package to exploding into a giant ball of tulle floof. Not unlike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NVUSOm8Mps (Fortunately, once it's turned inside out so that the underskirt is on the outside, it can be folded down and contained in a gallon zip-lock storage baggie -- not something I'd do with a vintage crinoline, but there's no other way to store it without splashing out on a set of proper vacuum bags). I usually recommend an old Korg EMX.They're cheap and easy to resell and it's not difficult to break even on it if you don't care for it or want to upgrade. If you're not used to trackers / step sequencers it's also a great starting point to get used to how they work.

I have a Microkorg that I've been using for a while and love (despite what the thread says ); it was my first and there are more tutorials for it on YouTube than one could watch (I mostly watched a guy named Jacques Mongrel). My friend came over a couple days ago with an old Juno 106 that his uncle pulled out of a garage and gave him to fix up and I decided I "needed" an analog synth. I read some reviews and ended up watching videos from 'ollilaboratories' on YouTube (those same videos sold me on a drum machine too so thanks for that Olli ), and bought one about 5 videos in.

Do it in the cooker. The burnt bits of the onion turns into a tasty sauce.

Coredump posted:You sauté the onions in the pressure cooker or another pan? You can do either - the pressure cooker has a "saute" setting that basically runs its 1000W element at full power. Its plenty to brown meat or sweat aromatics but in larger quantities its a bit cramped, when I had about two pounds of cubed roast we were making into goulash I ended up browning it in a separate pan that I deglazed and poured into the pressure cooker.

I make carne asada in mine. Saute to hot. Add oil. Brown. Then 12 minutes in pressure cooker. Good eats.

Just made beef stew in mine last night - super good! I also make single serving oatmeal in this; add 1/4 cup steel cut oats, 3/4 cup whatever liquid you want (I normally do vanilla soy milk), and any spices/fruit/nuts you want into a mason jar. Cover the jar in aluminum foil, set on the little rack that came with the cooker, add some water to the bottom of the pot, set the jars on the rack, and cook at 15 min on high pressure. You can fit three pint jars in the cooker. Jars can be emptied into a bowl and reheated in the microwave, or just eaten as is from the fridge; either way is good! Easiest way to make steel cut oats I've ever done. I like to add apple sauce and cinnamon to mine - it tastes like apple pie! Also, 1-2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs + 1 jar salsa + cook for 12 min = the easiest pulled chicken you can make in a half hour!
