I think the best reason to sign up (either paid or endless free months), is the phone app. It's gotten really good, and the ability to download whole shows is great.

Not sure about the AM deal, but he is still in syndication in some places but I think his deal with 98.7 The Bone was his main money maker so he is taking a pretty large hit.

The Bone is 102.5, where he got booted from and ended up at the 98.7 station that dropped him in Tampa in December. And yeah he's still got affiliates but his show is just unlistenable now. As for the 820am thing, that's just a rumor I keep seeing on twitter.

As for an alternative for mornings, the Billy Madison Show (99.5 fm based out of San Antonio but they have a stream) is pretty good. They actually have an affiliate with The Bone that airs from 5-7pm CST.

Regardless if you like him or not, his Sirius shows from 2006 and 2007 are really great radio

I think the on air show is currently Bubba, Manson(Ned), and 25. I think for a while he had his sister Tara as on air staff as well.
That show is all about Manson. Bubba lucked out when he got him and realized it and has paid him well ever since.
But yeah, Bubba was an amazing show when he was full hot on a deal and Spice and Brent would break his balls, then the next day Manson would show up with a burial song.

Bubba has some strange connection/attraction to Hogan, maybe its hero worship. Hogan was the best man when Bubba and Heather got married so it makes this all even stranger. I remember when Hogan was going though the divorce and he'd call in and just complain about Linda for an hour or so and we all know that this is the time period when the sex tape was made.

I'm more interested in why Spice stole the tape and leaked it.

Bubba and Spice cut ties long before the tape leak, Spice was basically put in charge of the RadioIO train wreck and was clearly overwhelmed. He then went onto an evening show on The Bone (which was actually pretty good) and then got canned out of nowhere.

Quick history of Spice and Bubba

Spice was an intern when Bubba was first #1 in Tampa. Eventually be became part of the on air staff in the early 2000's
When Bubba was fired from clear channel Spice was the only one who went and got another job. During this time Bubba paid Brent and Manson and ran for sheriff.
After Bubba got his Sirius contract on 2006 they did the show for the first 6 months without Spice then brought him back around July.

From July 2006-2010 he was certainly one of Bubbas best friends, at least on the show...but it really could have been a work. But I think they were good friends in the grand scheme of things.
In 2011 Bubba left sirius, went back to FM syndication and started RadioIO.com and put together basically his version of H100 and H101.
Spice became the program director of the Bubba channels in 2011 and was gone in 2012.
It ended badly. Mostly it had to do with the fact that a lot of the reason they all agreed to the RadioIO thing was so they could cash in on the stock....which never happened.

Anyway, in 2006 Hogan had sex with Bubbas Ex wife Heather.
Bubba recorded the NUMEROUS times Heather had sex with someone else and had a collection of them. I think the rumor was they ended up at a Bubba radio network yardsale and spice picked them up...the rest is history.

The real deal here tho is who else does Spice have on tape? My guess is at the very least Toney Stewart, who always stayed at Bubbas house.
Non Celeb, I would think Spice, Akira, and 25 all hosed her.

...

After Artie stabbed himself repeatedly in the stomach was driven out by Hamptons Howie and the red-headed oval office and the show went to 75% Robin yelling I actually switched over to Bubba - Spice's weekly show was the best bit of RadioIO, and actually, the main show was MUCH better on the days when Bubba would bail and just leave Spice in charge, to the point I started just listening to Spice and actually switched over to listening to his Bone evening show (then I went gay for a while)... the solo show was pretty decent but REALLY hampered by being on terrestrial - by that point I'd been spoiled by years of Sirius/etc. I remember skimming through the report on the Hogan tape, the deal was during his divorce Bubba moved all that stuff out of his house out of fear Heather would steal it, and he stored it at the studio. Spice happened to find it, and grabbed it to try and cash in. I think the Spice show got cancelled when Bubba found out about the tape and made the station fire him (at least that was the rumour at the time, which Spice denied but the rest later turned out to be true)

I always thought Manson was super-talented, but REALLY in need of someone like Howard to stomp hard on mediocre bits and get the decent ones edited down. Like some of the song parodies would be 75% excellent and 25% filler (and some should have never made the air at all - like an infommercial for a Christina Aguilera album which is just a "she's a slut" joke stretched out to 6 minutes that Bubba would play daily 10 years after it was relevant, just because it was long enough he could go get mcmuffins or whatever)

Edit: Oh yeah and I forgot my point while rambling - I always figured Spice really hated Bubba all along, but was decent enough at hiding it that he could keep riding the train so long as he had a popular-enough show. As soon as the show started to spiral Spice jumped, even for a crappy timeslot.

He's not wrong and that is what I loved about the show. Bubba allows the trashing and teasing to continue because it's great radio. Manson is the more viscous person if you ask me because his (and Ned's) song parodies are incredible.

Image if someone took 5 minutes said the same kind of things about Howard. He's explode and spend the next 4 hours ranting about everyone should bow down and be happy that they make 25k a year.

I don't think Bubba let anyone on the show crew sleep with Heather, although Spice always teased about it. In some cases I think Bubba thought of Heather as a "premium" that he'd offer people he was trying to impress. Like some people would offer 20 year old scotch or cuban cigars, Bubba would let you have his wife. He also openly talked about threesomes they had with other porn stars and a out Heather's insatiable sex drive.

Spiace was really great interviewer and booked much better guests. Bubba would book bands like Seven Mary Three and Candlebox in studio even though it was not suddenly 1994 again.
