I remember getting school cancelled in Alabama the day before because we expected up to 1 inch of snow. It ended up not snowing at all and my friends and myself just played street hockey for most of our snow day.

Funny how going left dale might help, but the "left" parties have gone centre/left and the "right" keeps going further right. What the right are doing seems normal (austerity in hard times and all that crap), and anyone suggesting go more left/socialist is regarded as a loon. But to stop selling off public built assets and build more infrastructure and help get people into work through social or medical systems would actually help? I don't know your parents and both wings of the Democrats have great support among minorities. The perception of a conflict between social and economic justice was cultivated as a campaign tactic and later reinforced by the geography and demographics of Trump's victory. My point is that that's a false divide which helps Trump now. Economic policy is necessary to improving American lives. Also, the centrists are not good at elections.
