Monster Trucks' only competition is family stuff left over from last year - Star Wars and Sing. Also itself, since it sat on a shelf for over a year and the monster was completely redesigned (IIRC someone in the last thread was involved in one of the old versions of the film), part of why the cost is so high.

He didn't get any of the jokes that Nick Offerman was making and actually snapped at him for being rude about the industry. It was kind of embarrassing honestly. He's been retired and only comes back for special projects and if there has been one in the last three years that he's done that looks as amazing as his earlier work I haven't seen it. I might just be projecting based on that night though.

Artists change and evolve over the course of their career, even if their actual skills or physical condition don't regress asking one to imitate their work from 40 years ago is a great way to wind up disappointed. Best case scenario you get something like Giger's mural in Prometheus where it was in his newer style and looked distinct and new even if it was a depiction of something he had painted back in the 70s and was still recognizably his work.

I saw Monster Trucks over the Christmas break guys it was enjoyable enough, it reminded me a little of those feel good Saturday afternoon kids movies (like Mighty Ducks) that used to be rampant in the 90's.

I was 6 when that came out and saw it in the theater like 10 times and that's the first I heard of kids being scared of E.T. rather than the guys with guns. Further proof that Millennials are soft.

I remembered it as the scariest thing in the world. I was too old to be scared when I got to see ET & those, cause we didn't have money when I was little & so could only watch what was on TV & didn't have a VCR until I was 10. I was the biggest scardy cat in the world as a kid, but I loved gruesome, weird, and scary looking monsters as long as they were presented in a friendly context. All my favorite toys were gross and oozing and covered in teeth. But they were always the heroes. If the story has any hint of truth, it wasn't a failure in the monster designs, it was a failure in how the film presented them. The scariest thing for me was the movie The Witches based on the Roald Dahl book. Just seeing Anjelica Houston transform freaked me out for months. Monster Truck looks like the most earnest movie made in the last 20 years or so.

I saw Thriller when I was five years old. It hosed me up right good. What's worse, that poo poo was everywhere. My older sister taped it and wanted to watch it constantly, so I would have to hide in the kitchen and rock back and forth while listening to Blue Skies by Willie Nelson with headphones.
