I did get time to add a sort of "memory" that shows where you've seen something previously. I might be tempted to add a timer to this and have it so your memories become less reliable while time passes but that might just be fluff for the sake of fluff.

scrapped the idea i was working on which was basically an egress simulator, but all my time was turning into support emergent behavior that didn't ruin state too badly, and that... is tedious and un-fun for jam purposes so i PIVOTED to a multiplayer game because that's what I always do last night I wrote most of the core game loop and all the net code has not been an obstacle whatsoever which is nice, also starting to feel more like a Unity demigod instead of just a confused acolyte

logo time A few thoughts on what I've got so far: - I tweaked the game so that collecting a yellow cube ('coin' doesn't feel like the right word for it) also serves as a sort of checkpoint / reset button that slides all the blocks you're balancing on to the center. So basically you can build a terribly unbalanced tower and still be ok if you just manage to survive long enough to reach another yellow cube. This is good I think. - it's a LOT more fun on mobile than it is on desktop. One button gameplay is not super engaging on a computer I think. This is good (for me) and bad (for the jam) - After replaying the game w the music now added, I have to admit it's not nearly as stressful / panic-themed as I thought I could make it, and I don't see a way out of that at this point. I thought that with more blocks and a frantic soundtrack I could address it, but I didn't even GO w frantic music in the end because it didn't fit. idk why I didn't realise this earlier. But I like this game, it's cute and loving silly, so whatever. More work on Volcanooo! Added a bunch of prefabs, and improved crowd flocking. Not currently shown: buttons that open the doors and lower the drawbridges, which require a certain number of people standing on them. Working on flaming cars barreling towards you, floor sections that raise/lower, and powerups (+people, -gamespeed). Wish I knew a way to make the lava at the bottom look great, that'll be a challenge for polishing. Anyone who runs Steam while playing Volcanooo! will have their scores uploaded to an in-game leaderboard. The game's designed for an Xbox controller, left stick and right stick control the beams, the bumpers let you send guys from one beam to another, and the a button gets rid of the second beam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur9_3EMO8Qg
