Well, a growing number of Bulrathi actually do have English as a first language now- English is the primary administrative language of the Human Republic, and it's been instituted in education for young Bulrathi. A (very few, thus far) Bulrathi have actually taken to adopting Human names, so a Bulrathi named Fred isn't beyond the bounds of belief. Fewer of them claim to be Norwegians, however.

Well, actually... it's worth noting that there is a fantasy role-playing game that has begun to gain some popularity amongst a few of the younger Bulrathi in the Republic called Sea Kings, in which mighty warriors and mysterious runemasters of a fantastic version of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark fight against fearsome monsters, the warriors of the strange Southlands, and the magic of the Southlands' priests for treasure and glory. The greatest possible accomplishment suggested in Sea Kings is to sack the immense fortress city of Miklagard, heart of the greatest empire of the Southlands and seat of some of its mightiest warriors and priests in attendance to the great Emperor of Miklagard. nweismuller fucked around with this message at 23:28 on Jan 6, 2017 |

The Bulrathi has dozens of tactical nukes; the human has the most advanced personal power armor in the known galaxy, now augmented by magic. Because I am lazy, expect the next update on Sunday- it's half-written but I'm being sucked away to pay attention to a book, and I know my creativity suffers when I don't let myself take it easy sometimes. That said, after my current two LPs are over, I believe I shall work on LPing Stars in Shadow, and I'm trying to decide between playing the Phidi Combine or Humanity. The Phidi are very much my style, and are by far the nicest guys in the game. Humanity... will give us an experience of clawing our way up from an absolutely crap starting position, which has interesting storytelling potential. I'm leaning towards the Phidi, but will listen to what people want, and may change my mind if opinion is sufficiently united. Apologies for being lazy- I hope the wait ends up worth it.

The Decline of the Bulrathi Empire In 2581, a ring of Bulrathi spies was uncovered by IIA counterintelligence operatives working on Sunrise, attempting to steal technical schematics, prototypes, and equipment to bolster the Bulrathi Empire's position. These spies were placed on trial and then shot as spies during wartime, ensuring they would never return to the Empire. Humans, already fearful of the Empire, had their anxieties stoked to a new high, cementing their support of the war. Meanwhile, the bombardment cruiser Thunderbolt arrived at the pirate stronghold in Warikomi and commenced its assault. The fortress was deeply buried in the largest asteroids and widely-spread across much of the belt, however, and only a portion of the renegade infrastructure in the system was wrecked over the course of the year. The Thunderbolt settled in for a protracted siege. In 2582, Human colonists arrived at the cold desert world of Gobi in the Etana system, helping cement the Human Republic's control over the entire spinward rim. In the same year, Space Fleet's main battle fleet, comprising the battleships Peacemaker and Cincinnatus with the escort frigates Arbalest, Huscarl, and Chevalier, assaulted the Bulrathi fortifications covering the approach to the Ursa system from the Ellq system, supported by a major fleet of seven frigates. The early battle saw Space Fleet concentrate its fire on the fortifications, pouring long range mass driver fire into the station, tearing it apart with the impacts. Some missile and neutron cannon fire broke through Space Fleet's defenses, weakening the Cincinnatus' shields, but none of Space Fleet's vessels had thus far taken any real damage. The Imperial frigates closed to point-blank range, attempting to saturate the Space Fleet vessels with missile fire, but the Imperial vessels were systematically pulverised while Space Fleet's shields held. Space Fleet had forced entry to the Ursa system in a battle that cost no Human lives and had only a few accidental Human injuries. The year following this battle, Space Fleet closed on Bulra, the homeworld of the Bulrathi species and the seat of the Bulrathi Empire. The planet was guarded by an Imperial Fleet command station, armed orbital satellites with a powerful array of missile launchers and high-powered mass drivers, and a frigate of the Imperial Fleet, all of which rallied to protect the most important strategic point in the Empire. The Space Fleet force pulled into position for a long-range mass driver bombardment, under fire from the Bulrathi fixed positions the whole way, then opened fire against the satellite arrayed with mass drivers. It was knocked out of commission fairly rapidly, but not before landing multiple slugs against the Cincinnatus, whose crew suffered a number of casualties from secondary damage, although the hull held. By this time, the Imperial frigate had pulled into an attack position, and was unleashing volleys of its own missiles, most of which perished against Space Fleet's point defense. With the mass driver satellite destroyed, Space Fleet shifted its fire to focus on the missile satellite and the frigate, both of which were destroyed almost simultaneously. Continued fire from the Imperial Fleet command station eventually forced down the Cincinnatus' shields, and inflicted more damage, but by this time the battle's conclusion was inevitable. Space Fleet had cleared away the defenses around Bulra, and was able to lock down its approaches from orbit. The Chevalier was left to monitor Bulra's orbit while the remainder of Space Fleet set off to continue attacks deeper into Imperial territory. Meanwhile, the Thunderbolt finally finished its siege of the pirate stronghold in Warikomi, recovering equipment and metals for reprocessing by the Republic's industry. With the spacelanes secured for the moment, the Thunderbolt proceeded on, ready to help support the push into Imperial territory. As Space Fleet pushed on, it arrived at Kalov in 2587. One Imperial frigate supported the orbital defenses, all of which were systematically destroyed in a battle that failed to see any damage to Space Fleet, which left the Arbalest in orbit of Kalov to keep the planet locked down while the remainder of the fleet pushed on even deeper into Bulrathi territory. In 2592, Space Fleet arrived at Porov in the Rosemund system. The orbital defenses around Porov were hopelessly outclassed by the Peacemaker, Cincinnatus, and Huscarl, with neutron cannon and ion beam fire ineffective against Space Fleet shields and almost every missile fired at the Human ships shot down. Soon the defenses were reduced and the Huscarl left behind to blockade Porov. Although Space Fleet had not seen any Imperial ships in Rosemund, a pair of frigates headed from Rosemund hit 80 million Human surface troops in their transports on the way to Kalov, killing a staggering number of Human troops in a single day. The frigates then withdrew, but were never detected returning to Rosemund- it was suspected that the collapsing Imperial logistics base forced the crews of the frigates, desperately short on supplies, to abandon ship and place scuttling charges. The year also saw the Thunderbolt assault Bulrathi gas harvesting and refining operations around the gas giant Psok in the Ursa system, reducing the facilities to scrap and denying Imperial forces that source of supply. A year later, in 2593, scientists noted a burst of tachyons consistent with a nova event occurring in a star some distance spinward of the Human Republic's borders. Any planets that had once orbited the star would surely have been destroyed by the terrible fury of the erupting star. The year also saw the Space Fleet battleships assault the system border defenses between the Rosemund and Kaff systems. With no escorts, the battleships suffered significantly more missile hits over the course of the battle, but still, the defenses were unable to penetrate Space Fleet shields and the way was soon cleared. By 2594, the Space Fleet battleships had confirmed the presence of Bulrathi colonies on the worlds of Chalov and Tsovana in the Kaff system, with a single Imperial cruiser orbiting Tsovana in an attempt to protect the Imperial holdings in the system. 2594 also saw the first of a series of reforms helping provide a more efficient administration of the Human Republic, even at interstellar scales, which helped hold the growing polity together. At this point, the primary limitation on the scale of interstellar commerce was ultimately the limitations of current communications technology, although even with its current limitations more predictable interstellar commerce helped pave the way for far more comprehensive funding and investment for new colonies with the firm expectation that such investment would see returns. The development of advanced robotic packages to rapidly establish a functioning industrial on a new colony followed investment, and it was anticipated that new colonies in the future would be able to be developed far more swiftly. In my mind, the most exciting thing we get from Advanced Government is Advanced Colony Ships. Although they add more production cost to a colony ship than the production cost of the Hydroponic Farms, Automated Factories, and Research Labs they set up instantly on a new colony, they allow this production to be concentrated on existing industrial worlds with a strong production base. Interplanetary Administrations will eventually let us concentrate production in certain industrial colonies, but their cost and the situation value of this means this will wait a while, while the Interplanetary Security Network is an effective but very expensive way to boost internal security. With Advanced Government in place, we'll need more advanced communications from physics research in order to pave the way for the next major commercial boom that I have my eyes on. The year following, the Emperor of the Bulrathi Empire dispatched an offer to share Bulrathi technological secrets of small craft engineering and of genetic modifications to unlock actual telepathic potential in individuals if only the Republic's war against the Empire were to be ended. The Republic's leadership, remembering the atrocities with which the Bulrathi started the war and knowing the hatred the voters had for the Empire, refused this offer out of hand. This would have been a tempting bribe if the Empire hadn't basically cemented itself as something we absolutely need to destroy for our own safety. While the Republic's leadership rebuffed this peace offer, the Peacemaker and Cincinnatus engaged and destroyed the Bulrathi cruiser orbiting Tsovana, and placed the world under blockade. At this point, nearly the whole of the Empire was interdicted by Space Fleet, with Chalov to be blockaded within a year. Even despite the terrible losses to the expeditionary forces in 2592, in 2596 120 million Human troops stood ready to force a landing on Kalov. Brutal fighting raged for most of the year, causing heavy casualties amongst the attacking troops and damaging or expending much of their equipment. Those troops still combat effective by the end of the invasion were required to establish an effective occupation in the population centers of the planet. Still, by the end of the year, both of Bulra's oldest and most established colony planets were under control of the Republic. The Industrious began establishing border defenses in the Hiraki system, using Ellq as a point of supply, while the Arbalest broke orbit to start towards the Kaff system, in order to allow one of the battleships to be freed from blockade duties. In 2597 The Pinaka began a siege of a resurgent pirate stronghold in Warikomi that eventually ended in the following year. As a new warlord controlling the renegade populations of Warikomi and Kif was cast down, a stream of immigrants to the Republic settled in New Babylon, fleeing from violence and from the oppression of pirate warlords. Meanwhile, Imperial Intelligence began a major program of propaganda intended to stiffen resistance of remaining Bulrathi populations against the Human Republic. Stories that the Humans murdered Bulrathi out of hand and intended to enslave all the survivors were widely spread amongst Imperial populations. Two years later, in 2600, a series of viruses and physical sabotage efforts in the communications networks of Sunrise caused a near-crash of planetary communications, badly crippling activities there until networks could finally be repaired. Destablise would have hurt diplomatic relations with other civilisations I was in contact with, if there was anybody I had met. As it is, it only makes the Bulrathi Empire like me even less, which ends up being a lucky case of Bulrathi espionage not hurting much. The Human Republic and Known Space as of 2600 Border defenses have almost been completed at Hiraki, while the Chevalier and Thunderbolt maintain blockades on Bulra and Porov. The Huscarl and Arbalest are within a year of relieving the two battleships in the Kaff system, while the recently-commissioned frigate Rifleman awaits the battleships to serve as their escort as they push for the last remnants of Imperial space. Despite the blockades, some amount of Bulrathi commercial traffic has engaged in smuggling, but the Republic has intercepted a great deal of this traffic and impounded it, providing a steady flow of supplemental income. The Republic's economy has seen steady growth in investment and innovation over the past two decades, despite the war effort and the damages inflicted by Imperial Intelligence. Only a single world of the Empire remains un-blockaded, and it seems likely that the Imperial Fleet is nearly defunct. By now only Bulrathi spies and guerillas can threaten Human space, although nobody underestimates how severe that threat can be. The Pinaka is on station for counterpiracy duty, while the Benjamin Hornigold and John Paul Jones, two new scouting and counter-piracy frigates, are ready to explore further into the galaxy, as physicists are near to perfecting gravitational compensation devices that should be able to protect ships travelling unstable hyperspace conduits. A Human colonisation mission is a year out from settling the irradiated world of Erebus in the Tyrannus system. Major spaceport facilities and associated export and import industries to take better advantage of interstellar trade have been established on Earth, bolstering the prosperity of the Human homeworld. Advanced research universities taking advantage of new techniques are starting to be established across the capital planet, and are expected to massively bolster scientific and technological progress here once they have been well-established. Paradise has recovered from the earlier communications crash, and has continued as the primary shipyard world for the Republic's military expansion, and a major muster point for ground forces. Soil and water contamination here remains a major problem, although one the planet is now very slowly recovering from. New entertainment and luxuries are expected to ease issues with discontent and lack of productivity and strengthen the planetary economy in the near future. Sunrise has implemented a fully modern communications infrastructure, although its operations are nearly nonexistent due to continued equipment crashes from viral infection. The population is rapidly recovering from the settlers who have left here to establish a new settlement on Erebus, and efforts to modernise the robotics in Sunrise's industry are underway. New Babylon's population has nearly doubled over the past two decades, and industrial-scale fusion generation has been established to fuel local industry. The planet is a major contributor to the Republic's industry, and is in the process of modernising its communications and computing infrastructure for local research departments and administration. Factories to supply the materials for soil chemistry management for agriculture have boosted yields on Niflheim, while establishment of emissions scrubbers on factories has reduced the impact of the relentless industry of this metals-rich world. The population now exceeds five billion persons, who are now more dependent than before on outside investment to support their world. Development of industrial fusion plants to support the world's power requirements should strengthen its already-strong heavy industrial sector. The new colony planet of Gobi still has a population only somewhat over one billion, with basics of modern industry, industrial-scale hydroponics, and controlled-environment domes for agriculture and scientific purposes in place on the surface, as well as cultivation areas for fungal crops to supplement the meager yields of local agriculture. Development of modern research equipment for the small research departments local to the planet is well under way. Much of the physical damage from the invasion of Korga has been repaired by now, while the resistance of the local population has been slowly softening, especially amongst some of the younger Bulrathi who have grown up never knowing anything but occupation by the Republican military protectorate overseeing the still-restive world. Usage of English, the primary language of the Republic's official business, is slowly growing amongst younger Bulrathi, although much of the population still resists the occupation. Many of the outlying settlements beyond the major cities are now more regularly-patrolled by the Republic's troops, and fewer areas of the planet are considered outside effective control. A Space Fleet command station above the planet has been established to help protect it and to provide an effective logistics base for Space Fleet's operations in the Empire. By now, very few members of the Bulrathi aristocracy remain alive on the planet, as many took to resistance, others were sentenced for crimes, and many soldiers in the occupation have been reluctant to take Bulrathi aristocrats alive when they have come across them. The Republic's occupation force on Kalov has secured the major cities, but outlying mining, water cracking, farming, and archaeological outposts are not effectively patrolled. Much of the infrastructure in the city domes has been badly damaged, and resistance operations against the occupation forces are constant. Resistance is expected to slowly subside, but it may well take a great deal of time. Many of the surviving aristocracy have gone into hiding as resistance leaders, and the occupation forces have begun a program of attempting to hunt down and kill these rebels. Study of the ancient ruins on Kalov has proven fruitful for scientific progress, and archaeology is a major endeavor here. The IIA's operations currently focus almost entirely on trying to contain the damage inflicted by Imperial Intelligence, although many IIA analysts fear that the IIA has been unable to cause attrition to Imperial Intelligence assets faster than Imperial Intelligence can train and deploy them, which has led to some IIA recommendations that the war effort focus on assaulting Bulra and shutting down Imperial Intelligence headquarters there, which may set back Imperial Intelligence's efforts significantly. IIA information on Chalov, Tsovana, and the planet of Gelkiy in the Lirr system is very limited, but nonetheless the IIA estimates that those three worlds combined have a population of somewhere between five to six billion persons. Bulra, at this point, represents approximately two-thirds of remaining Imperial population on its own, and smuggling from the planet is believed to help finance what remains of the Bulrathi war effort elsewhere. Proposals for the People of the Republic Research Priorities Human researchers have nearly perfected gravitational compensators to protect ships traversing unstable hyperspace conduits, along with other applications of man-portable generators of exotic energy fields, but future advances lie before Human research teams. Further progress in study of the physics of gravity might allow large-scale compensation for extremes of gravity on planetary surfaces and the artificial induction of hyperspace conduits between systems controlled by Humanity, along with the potential for more effective FTL communications. Study into computing could, in the near term, allow for improved targeting accuracy for ships, and allow for advances in robotics and science in the farther future. Establishment of methods to assemble asteroids into planetary masses could potentially allow for systems otherwise uncolonisable to be claimed by Humanity, and would provide more experience in large-scale engineering. Humanity's engineering prowess would also be strengthened by the development of methods to do stable construction with partially-degenerate materials, which could potentially provide new and durable armor materials or destructive warheads for guided missiles. Please vote between ground combat or offensive espionage applications for our current research. Please vote also for study into Physics, Computing, Planetary Engineering, or Molecular Compression. War Plans The Imperial Fleet has largely been crippled, and the last of the Imperial planets should be blockaded within the decade. Imperial Intelligence headquarters on Bulra has proven to still be an active threat, however, which has led some to reconsider the current plans to leave the conquest of Bulra for later. Please vote on whether to target Bulra first or Bulra last. Ground Forces Recruitment A steady stream of new recruits is needed to help secure Bulrathi worlds- including a number of military recruits from Korga from the most assimilated young Bulrathi. The legislature may make recommendations for worlds that are to muster ground forces for the continued war effort. Additional appropriations might accelerate the war, but may be very expensive. Please suggest worlds that should muster troops. Please also vote yea or nay on whether to focus our spending surplus on churning out more transports until we completely liquidate the Empire. Scout Forces Disposition There has been some debate whether the Pinaka will serve the Republic better by remaining on station for counterpiracy duties, or whether counterpiracy operations can be left aside for some time while the Pinaka helps scout the driftward expanses beyond the Bulrathi Empire, helping accelerate Human exploration of the galaxy. Please vote between counterpiracy or scouting duties for the Pinaka. The back of the Bulrathi Empire has been broken, but as long as the Empire endures the Human Republic cannot enjoy peace. Still, by now, final victory seems to be in sight. Perhaps someday soon peace will be restored and the Human Republic will guarantee freedom and prosperity to both Humanity and the Bulrathi. nweismuller fucked around with this message at 00:32 on Apr 24, 2017 |

Whoo! Nice series of posts. Vote for Ground Weapons research. We are in a position where we are going to be continuing a grinding offensive to the Bulrathi homeworlds and likely engaging in protracted combat over the next decades. Anything that can help our troopers go toe to toe with the Bulrathi dug into thier homeworlds and dug into fortresses around the planet helps save lives and secure the area faster. Long term reseach prefer Physics. The Bulrathi don't have any major fleet elements left and most of their remaining known space is under blockade so we don't have to worry particularly much on their rallying further fleet elements. Improved communication and drive systems will help us patrol our border and otherwise make more efficient use of comm relays, which will help command and control and the mobilization of ships from system to system. We have technological superiority, it's time to look to the future - helpin to further cement our logistical backbone with improved commuication techs will help us continue superiority whereas more direct military technological improvements are not an immeidate necessity, so the sooner we can get those out of the way the longer term we can help our fleet's backbone. While Planetary Engineering is an amazing concept, for the moment we have not hit the limits of worlds within our territory that are good for colonization, as well as those worlds built by such methods are likely to rquire significant terraforming in order to be habitable up to norms, so it is not an immediate priority to establish. Voting for Yay on the buildup of more troops. The war is going to be a slog but until the Bulrathi are fully occupied we have an enemy at our backs, and we as Humanity will not stand for acts of genocide. The sooner we can occupy thier worlds and pacify them the sooner humanity can sleep peacefully Also I vote for Attack on Bulrath as our main priority as soon as we have sufficient military personnel and forces to occupy the homeworld. Doing so will break the back ofthe Bulrathi economy and production and disrupt their spy operations. Otherwise, we are looking at multiple decades as we grind our way through thier remaining planets and then a buildup of forces for the invasion. Occupation, while rough, will be necessary and the sooner it is done the sooner the remaining Bulrathi can be neutralized with their greatest industrial and population center under our control. Otherwise, it is left to the discretion of the General Staff as to whether it is more feasible to grind down other Bulrathi planets first that are lightly guarded in order to cut down on thier reserve assets before a long assault on Bulra commences. Also I vote the assignment of our newest frigate for Scouting duties. We've been caughtu p in this war for so long and we all want it ended But that doesn't mena we can't sojourn to the stars to look for future races and planets o fpromise. That will give future generations a reminder of what humanity stands for, and hopefully help boost civilian morale that there are better things ahead.

Ground Weapons.. Humans and the liberated, or as I like to think of them Dancing Bulra need technological superiority to roust the enemy. Physics because science is the path to victory. Bulra Last. I have long been a proponent of this strategy. We are patient, and we are thorough. Systematically liberate all Imperial exclaves and integrate them. Raise the Dancing Bulra children to be loyal, and open up recruitment into our armed forces as a prosperous career path for them. Wipe out the Imperial menace by liberating Bulra with its own sons and daughters in the vanguard. Unlike the vile Imperials, we do not act in shadow to murder innocents and cripple worlds. We are open, we are absolutely clear, and we will not forget what they did to us, and continue to try to do. This is the price of their crimes, the eradication of their entire so-called empire, and their disgusted descendants purging their regime in our name and on our behalf. Yea on transports. Scouting, for the Imperials are not the sum total of what is out there.

I can't remember if the game enforces peace treaties via refusing to let you do war stuff to people you've got a peace treaty with. In this situation, I'd go "sure, I'll take these techs and money to stop kicking your teeth in," and immediately resume bombing the poo poo out of them next turn. But I operate on a "I gotta kill everybody sooner or later, may as well be sooner and you can't hold a grudge if you're dead" mindset. I say espionage tech because yeah, the ground weapons are useful, but that's only once the shooting starts. If we're less crap at spying, then we can help make sure we have an easier time invading or never need to invade at all. Or hell, we could use it to swipe other people's techs right out from under their noses. For more general science, Planetary Engineering because engineering planets is rad. Bulra first because the other crapsack planets are crapsacks that are basically irrelevant. Cut off the head and all that, and once you have, you can roll up the rest of the planets (that are now even worse off since you took the homeworld) at your leisure. Even with the blockade, a developed planet is a developed planet, and they might be able to get something troublesome into orbit. Not troublesome enough that you can't deal with it, but troublesome enough that you'll have to deal with it. Yea on transports because even if you don't use them now, you can use them later, and "running out of transports" can be where the wars grind to a halt. Sure, they'll take up some command points until you use them, but I'm pretty sure you've got more than enough of those lying around. For the last one, I'm going to say counterpiracy duties but build some actual scout ships. For those who don't know, scout ships are super cheap and unarmed, which are their major pros, with another that may or may not be relevant being that you can turn on automatic exploration so they'll run around handling poo poo on their own without you having to order them around. The downside, of course, is that if they're engaged, they automatically die just like transports.

I think I may have been unclear. I will be producing transports regardless of what people vote. I've been asking whether I should be spending a ton of money to produce transports even faster.

Ground combat technology, we're staring a land war in Focus later research on physics, efficient communications and logistics have been the hallmark of the Republic, and as our empire grows larger we need to bind it together ever closer. Bulra first, it'll tear the heart out of the remainder of the Empire, secure our lines, and allow us to begin the long hard occupation now instead of a few decades from now. Yea on increased recruitment. I'm sure there will be no shortage of volunteers from Earth and Paradise, and it may be a powerful symbolic gesture to have Dancing Bulra troops The Pinaka should break off and join the other frigates on scouting duty, exploring the remainder of the sector is vital to the Republic's continued expansion and well being - every resource not dedicated to finishing off the war should be dedicated to exploring and exploiting new worlds.

What's that? Making a race of peoples who've spent centuries punching each other in the face over land even better at punching each other in the face over land? Sounds great! Maybe we can finally set up that competetive tank-fighting league. Let's research Ground Combat. Also, let's research Physics because there's just something about being better at throwing rocks that sounds appealing. Yea on more transports. Why? Because we're going Bulra First. The sooner we take out that drat spy headquarters, the sooner the attacks on our people will start dropping off. I don't think we need another example of Bulrathi espionage hitting Earth any time soon. Keeping the Pinaka on counterpiracy duties but building some actual scout ships seems like a good idea. Let's wait until we get this war swept under our rug before meeting the neighbours, shall we?

In 2605, the John Paul Jones, scouting spinward of Human space, has discovered representatives of both the Mrrshan and Klackon species. The Mrrshan are an obligatory carnivorous mammalian species somewhat resembling cats with superb reflexes and keen predatory instincts; the Mrrshan High Queendom is a feudal monarchy whose ruling line of high queens put the era of internecine warfare between different Mrrshan lords to rest by forging personal relationships with many lords and offering to provide justice to those who owe them fealty. Mrrshan commoners are fiercely independent and there is no institution of serfdom or forced labor as was the case in the Bulrathi Empire. The Human Republic concluded trade relations with the High Queendom before encountering the Klackon, a eusocial communal society of insects who revere the racial will of their species in a quasi-religious fashion. It may be possible to negotiate trade relations with the Klackon, but this will doubtless strain existing relations with the Mrrshan High Queendom. Should Republic foreign policy focus on: a) Establishing very close relations with the Mrrshan with a view to concluding an alliance, which may possibly require sharing some Human technological secrets with the Mrrshan, who are considerably less technologically advanced than the Human Republic. b) Maintaining warm relations with the Mrrshan, without going so far as to bribe the High Queendom to conclude treaties. c) Attempting to balance both powers and trade with either side of the war. d) Ditching the relationship with the Mrrshan and cozying up with the Klackon, despite the deeply unsettling nature of Klackon society. The Mrrshan High Queendom is closer to the Republic's borders, and has an estimated population of 34 billion compared to the Republic's 82 billion; the Klackon are farther away and have an estimated population of 52 billion. nweismuller fucked around with this message at 04:30 on Jan 17, 2017 |

C, and explicitly avoiding permanent treaties with any side. We'll need to bring true freedom and democracy to their people some day, preferably once the Bulrathi have been dealt with.
