so this was a good post and not probation worthy, but i have 2 points i want to make in response:

- Okay sure, the owl of minerva flies at dusk, that's a great way to talk about the Bolsheviks and the choices they made narratively, it's not a good way to retroactively analyze them. They liquidated the kulaks because they felt they had no choice - but why did that happen? How was such a scenario entered into in the first place? (As an aside, I don't think Taylorism is at all the problem here, it's not all that different from the Toyota model if we're being serious about it).

To take your 'tree of failure', it's not enough to keep failing and then stumble on the right answer (Or to try the same thing, over and over again, as some people itt seem to want to). You have to contextualize what you've already learned into a theoretical model that guides your next steps. If I give you 10 pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, that all have some kind of nature poo poo on them, you can make a good guess that it's a landscape scene that you're putting together.

The dichotomy you're erecting here isn't actually necessary and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's one thing to build castles in the sky, but to use the fear of 'utopianism' to deny the use of any abstraction is absurd - what is Capital itself, if not a text that attempts to abstractly describe capitalism from the personal experience and information presented to one man in a direct and contingent sense? Is Capital now worthless because the capitalism or Marx's day is so totally different from the capitalism of today? That's essentially where your logic leads.

- the 'goal' of a leadership is not the same thing as the 'goal' of a system. The leaders of the soviet system could have honestly and sincerely had a goal of dissolving the soviet state into a stateless, classless society. What does that matter? How many bourgeois have the dream of dissolving capitalism itself into a similar structure? Yet their mode of action in that system, and the dynamic of the system, will not ever reach that goal, and does not care about the personal aspirations of any of its members, regardless of class. They know what they do, yet they do it anyway.

My laymans interpretation of the USSR, is that it's the same thing that always happens with revolutions. They're bloody and don't always resemble the movement that started the fire

Anyway it was pretty much a fascist state in all but name during Stalins regime

i don't think authoritarian socialism is a good thing, I think its a necessary thing to utilize earth's resources in the best way possible to get us to the stars. After we colonize a few planets in a few star systems then whatever, do whatever. But right now we're super hosed if we don't act like a big organisim. Or, if you would like, everyone acting like the employees of a big corporation called Earth. And we're all equal shareholders.
