Serious post: from What i know the Viking warrior culture is given undue importance due to German fascist movements. The dudes who were full time warriors would govern/assist with governing and for everyone else raiding was just something you did between growing seasons. As a consequence I bet there were plenty of dudes thinking "wow this sucks poo poo, I wish I stayed home huddled with my wife and 4 sheep for warmth" while they bleed out. Also the whole "warlord leading an off season raiding party" was not unique to the Norse, though their expert sailing was.
